Melanomas are not always dark in colour. Certain melanomas, called “amelanotic melanoma”, may have no color at all.

These unpigmented melanomas may be pinkish-looking, reddish, purple, normal skin color or essentially clear and colorless.

While these melanomas lack pigment, they may have other melanoma warning signs to stay on the lookout for, such as asymmetry and an irregular border.

Monday melanoma myth: you need to sunbake to ensure you get enough Vitamin D.

Not True!

Vitamin D ensures musculoskeletal health, and UVB radiation from the sun helps Vitamin D synthesis in the skin.

However, in Australia, particularly in the summer months, a few minutes of incidental sun exposure while completing everyday tasks, should be enough to support adequate Vitamin D synthesis, you definitely don't need to deliberately expose yourself to the sun for the purpose of getting some more Vitamin D
