Sharing my experience at 10 days Vipassana.
I Disappeared for 10 days FROM my little world that I have created !!!
💫No phone.
💫No talking.
💫No books.
💫No music.
💫No journaling.
Just silence.
On the first day, I kept reaching for my phone without even thinking. I missed my family, and unexpectedly, I missed chatting with the people around me. We were all sharing the same experience, yet we couldn't exchange a single word.
The retreat was far simpler than I imagined. Living on the generosity of previous participants, eating whatever vegetarian meal was served, following a disciplined routine, and spending hour after hour observing my own mind was both humbling and challenging.
Not every day was easy, but somewhere along the way I discovered things about myself that I hadn't fully appreciated.
I learnt that I can sit with silence.
I enjoy going inward.
My willpower is stronger than I realised.
Simple food is enough.
Nature restores me.
And discipline, rather than restricting me, creates freedom.
I went hoping to learn a meditation technique. I came home understanding myself a little better.
Have you ever considered doing a silent retreat? What do you think would be the hardest part for you??
