A: It depends.

We get asked this question, alot and it really does depends on the context and biopsychosocial factors of the condition (and the person). The frequency recommendations can, therefore, fluctuate.

When it comes to acupuncture, its effects are culminative. We need to see you more than once, however, we usually begin with weekly sessions, then fortnightly and then monthly for maintenance.

For acute cases, such as labor inducing treatments, or for chronic pain cases, we may recommend coming in twice a week.

Again, it depends.

For musculoskeletal it is usually 6-10 sessions, 12 for womens health or gynaecological and typically, weekly for fertility.

For IVF, it depends where you are in your ART journey.

The guideline is generally bi-weekly to weekly treatments for preparation and during an IVF cycle. Specifically, we recommended acupuncture before AND after an embryo transfer.

We recommend birth preparation acupuncture from 36 weeks of pregnancy.

For breech presentations, we recommend weekly acupuncture from 34 weeks to encourage the baby to turn and engage.

Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine is commonly sought alongside a network of physicians, health practitioners and allied health professionals such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, gynaecologists, sexologists and psychologists when it comes to chronic womens health conditions such as endometriosis, andenomyosis and pelvic pain.

Context is key.

At ALL THE H, our degree-qualified practitioners and trauma-trained therapists are experienced in a wide range of womens health, maternal health and paediatric health concerns, from the lens of East Asian Medicine, Functional Medicine and PsychoSomatic & Somatic Psychotherapy.

If you are undergoing IVF, trying to conceive or preparing for labor and are interested in exploring how acupuncture can support your journey to parenhood and beyond, we encourage you to book a free base chat to answer any questions you may have.

E L E V A T E

At ALL THE H, our degree qualified practitioners offer cosmetic acupuncture alongside clinical practice because we believe it isnt just about yout face, its about your entire wellbeing.

Beauty from the inside, out.

The skin is intricately connected to various internal systems, including the complex interplay between the gut, hormones & brain-skin axis.

● When intestinal barrier function is compromised due to dysbiosis, it may contribute to the pathogenesis of inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, acne & eczema. The gut microbiota plays a crucial role in modulating inflammatory mediators, such as SCFA, cytokines & neuropeptides like Substance P, which can influence various skin pathologies.

● The microbiome affects the production of metabolites & neuroendocrine factors essential for skin health, ie. tryptophan metabolites & lipids crucial for barrier function. Moreover, it shapes immune responses by influencing T helper cell balance & regulatory T cell function, thereby impacting skin inflammation.

○ Stress significantly impacts skin health through complex neuroendocrine-immune interactions. When stressed, the body activates the HPA axis, increasing cortisol production, triggering multiple skin effects, including increased pro-inflammatory cytokines, impaired epidermal barrier function & dysregulated sebaceous gland activity.

○ Cortisol can suppress immune function, potentially increasing susceptibility to skin infections and exacerbating autoimmune skin conditions. Chronic stress has been linked to delayed wound healing, accelerated skin aging & worsening of inflammatory skin disorders eg. psoriasis, atopic dermatitis & acne. Additionally, stress-induced neurogenic inflammation can exacerbate skin inflammation & itching.

When addressing your skin concerns, it is also important to consider lifestyle, diet & emotional wellbeing.

Cosmetic acupuncture may offer benefits for skin health by addressing these interconnected factors.

From acne, eczema, scarring, fine lines, sagging skin & as an alternative to or adjunct alongside injectables.

Your glow-up is waiting for you!

When your "normal" blood sugar isn't normal.

Fasting blood glucose or the OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) is typically how one measures their blood sugar.

Right? No.

This only reveals how the body responds in a fasted state. Its one snapshot.

It doesn't reveal how your blood sugar responds to the food you eat, how bonded glucose is to haemoglobin and/or whether there's dysfunction at a cellular (mitochondrial) level.

Are you actually converting energetic substrates like glucose (a reminder this is just one) to bioavailable energy?

MITOCHONDRIAL CAPACITY = PSYCHOSOMATIC CAPACITY

There is a bi-directional and symbiotic connection between trauma and metabolic dysfunction.

The effects of acute and chronic stress on metabolic disease such as Type 2 Diabetes has been well studied, with psychological and physiological stress quite capable of initiating T2D. To the point there is a correlation between diabetes and early childhood adversity (including chronic stress).

Stress (perceived or real) stimulates the release of various hormones (such as epinephrine, catecholamines, glucocorticoids & cortisol) which can result in elevated and dysregulated blood glucose levels. With the CNS & PNS being involved in the psychoneuroendocrine network

A (mal)adaptive state, which over time can turn into

● Dysfunction > Disease Process > Symptoms ○

When it comes to metabolic health (energy metabolism), it isnt so linear, which is where a dual stream of care shines when it comes to transformation.

Initial Consultations are available for 3 more weeks before clinic books close.
