I treated a new client recently for back pain.

Following her treatment she was delighted by the fact that her shoes slipped back on easily.
She had apparently struggled to get them on earlier that day due to swelling.

Furthermore, whilst putting her cardigan back on, she noticed she was able to lift her left arm above her head. Something she hadn’t been unable to do for a very long time.

I guess you could call these desirable side effects considering the treatment centred on her lower back.

It’s always nice to see satisfied clients.

Bowen is a hands on gentle form of bodywork that works on muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves and connective tissue.

I was going through some of my old photos..

This related to a client from several years ago who has since moved away from Mudgee.

He responded very well to Bowen treatment, going into deep relaxation and leaving pain free most of the time.

He said this to me one day which made me laugh.

I value my clients and have many fond memories in the work that I do 😁

A short in the system.

Anyone who has had anything to do with electric fencing will know that if the electrified wire gets hooked up on another part of the fence, the entire electric fence system will stop working.

The challenge is to find the fault, unhook it and then the fence is back in action.

To my clients I sometimes liken Bowen manipulations (and scar tissue work) to correcting the short in the system.

After all, Bowen in it's unique way is addressing the fascia or connective tissue which is highly innervated, forming an intricate matrix throughout our bodies. Highways of electrical currents controlled by the nervous system.

Perhaps Bowen Therapists could be more like electricians for the body 🤔

A client sent her adult son to see me for lower back pain and hip issues.

Some months later during her treatment she inquired what I did for her son when I saw him last.

Recently her son was eating an apple in the usual manner, biting into it with his teeth. He said to his mum

“I couldn’t do this before I saw Don”.

Apparently in the past he needed to slice apples into bite size pieces as he couldn’t open his mouth wide enough without restriction and pain.

Even more impressive than the outcome was the fact that a young man had the awareness to notice the difference and attribute it to the treatment.

The pelvis and the jaw (TMJ) are closely related and Bowen addresses the whole body, not just the symptoms. 😊

I use this phrase sometimes when frustrated clients tell me that they try to convince their family and friends to try Bowen.

"I don't think they believe me."

In my experience people seek Bowen treatment if and when they're ready.

Which is exactly the right time.
