What are we passing onto our children, our future generations?
We live in a world that’s more connected than ever where we can speak to someone on the other side of the world in seconds, yet sometimes feel disconnected from the person sitting beside us.
Something I believe is worth pausing with is the question of What are we gaining? And what might we be losing as human beings?
We weren’t meant to live in isolation we were meant to gather. To share food and stories with people we care about.
Raise children, celebrate, grieve together + be known by the people around us.
To have someone notice when we haven't been seen for a few days or weeks.
Community gives us something we can't create entirely on our own and that’s belonging.
The feeling of I'm not the only one who’s feeling this + the comfort of being witnessed, remembered and supported through the many seasons of a life.
Technology can’t replace sharing a meal with someone or having a raw + honest conversation that changes you, or to sit in silence with someone + know that just your presence is enough in that moment.
Our ancestors knew the importance of gathering, caring for one another and passing wisdom between generations.
I think our responsibility is to be really intentional about what we carry into the future because one day, we will become someone's ancestors.
So what will we leave behind?
Not just the things we accumulate or our income or job titles…. But the way we lived, loved, listened. The courage we modelled and the earth we cared for. The way we made people feel.
What kind of humans are we helping the next generation become?
I’ve just shared an episode on the Earth Mothers Podcast exploring this ~ head to the link in our bio if you’d like to listen.
