That’s a powerful story, Susie. You’ve gone from surviving to truly rebuilding yourself — and that takes a kind of strength most people never see behind the scenes. Here’s a polished version you could use for a post, bio, or introduction while still keeping your voice and truth in it:
---
My name is Suzi (Kalma Suzi)and I’m a recovering alcoholic.
I’ve been sober since the 31st of August, 2020.
For a long time, I was what people call a “functioning alcoholic.” I worked full-time, managed buses, drove buses, showed up, kept going, and handled my responsibilities. From the outside, it probably looked like I had everything together.
But what I was doing behind closed doors was destroying me.
I knew my body was shutting down. I knew something had to change.
So I gave up alcohol — and I did it my way.
The journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to face trauma, pain, emotions, and parts of myself I spent years trying to numb. But through that healing, I found purpose.
Today, I’m almost fully qualified as an intuitive trauma-informed breathwork practitioner, and I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come and what I stand for.
Recovery isn’t just about quitting alcohol. It’s about learning who you are without it. It’s about healing, growing, and choosing yourself over and over again.
I appreciate every single person who has walked beside me on this journey. The support, the love, the lessons, and even the hard moments have all shaped me into the woman I am today.
And for anyone out there struggling quietly — change is possible.
One day at a time. 🤍
