With the recent changes in legislation being passed there will be significant changes to how support coordination is being delivered.
By July 2028 there will no longer be support coordination included in participants NDIS plans from July 2028.
What this will mean is that if a participant has been approved support coordination, they will be linked to a government commissioned service (One or possibly a few) that will provide the supports as part of the NDIA similar to how participants access the LAC. funding will not be included in participants plan to pay for support coordination as it currently is.
It's still a bit unclear how this will all work.

The Australian Government has announced the introduction of a new commissioned National
Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Support Coordination and Connection (SCC) service
from 1 July 2028. This service will replace the way NDIS participants currently receive
support coordination services. The SCC service reform seeks to improve quality and service
consistency, encourage innovation, and be more responsive to participant needs.
Support coordinators play a valuable role in helping participants understand, access and
coordinate supports. At the same time, there are opportunities to improve consistency,
quality, safeguarding, and clarity about the roles of different providers.
To address these opportunities for improvement, the Department of Health, Disability and
Ageing (the department) and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) have
developed early ideas about how the new SCC service could work. The final design would
then be a decision for the Government.
This paper seeks your feedback on the early ideas, and your views about:
• what the SCC service should do
• how SCC providers should be commissioned and the market should work
• ensuring quality and safeguarding
• how demand for SCC services could be managed
• implementation and transition to the new service.
We want to hear from:
• people with disability, their families, carers and kin
• disability representative organisations and advocates
• disability support workers
• disability service providers and associations
• other service providers or organisations who may wish to deliver the new SCC
service in the future.
