Meet Black Beauty
Here she stands,
nekid but with pride.
She’s looking kind of jaded, with some small cracks in her hide,
I bought her secondhand, she was pick of all the land.
Dressed in fine Egyptian cotton
she looks solid, sturdy and well, grand.
Through thick and thin she’s stood her ground,
supporting many a pound
This steed has always been around
She’s had over two thousand riders,
heard a thousand tales
Ne’er a word she speaks
though at times she may utter a little
squeaks
it’s nearly time
to leave her in the longyard, soon, one day.
Yep, it’s time for a toast-
A toast to her last summer, and all the days gone past,
though I’ll put off our parting
for as long as she can last,
but it’s near time for the longyard,
long at last.
Let her squander her last summer, she will stolidly do her job,
then I’ll shed a little tear, let slip a little sob,
and put her out to the longyard....
gee my heart throbs
