Wudang Seated Baduanjin
An amazingly gentle yet powerful practice. I absolutely love this one and have been doing this set every day.

We are currently doing this Qigong set in our Blacksmiths class, and we find it really beneficial. And it is perfect before our meditation.

I've learned the Wudang Seated Baduanjin set from Master Simon Blow. It's very similar to this one, with only slight differences in some of the movements, but it's interesting to experience the same practice from a different teaching perspective.

I will share Master Simon Blow's Version as well.

Wudang Seated Baduanjin is a traditional Qigong exercise set designed to promote internal harmony and physical wellbeing, it helps improve blood circulation, enhance mental clarity, increase flexibility, and to connect deeper to one's inner Qi.

Movement 5 of the Wudang Seated Baduanjin, Painting the Kidney House, begins by gently rubbing the palms together to generate warmth. We then place the palms behind the back over the kidney area and softly circle the hands, as though painting the kidneys with healing energy.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the kidneys are regarded as the storehouse of Jing, our vital essence and foundational life force. This practice is believed to nourish and strengthen that essence while also building strength, vitality, and mental Qi in the Lower Dan Tian, the body's main energy center.

Qigong is a gentle yet powerful practice cultivating balance, vitality, and inner awareness.
Nourish your body, calm your mind, and cultivate your inner energy through Qigong.

Yin yoga is much more than simply placing gentle, sustained stress on the body's connective tissues, such as fascia, ligaments, and joint capsules.

I love practicing Yin Yoga and find great joy in sharing its benefits and guiding others on their Yin Yoga journey.

Yin Yoga invites you to slow down, embrace stillness, and find a space to truly unwind. Through gentle, slow stretches, longer holds, deep breathing, and mindful awareness, you are encouraged to reconnect with yourself and the present moment.

By releasing tension and stress held in the body, Yin Yoga also supports the nervous system, training it to rest, recover, and restore balance.

✨️Connect to the Earth. Whether you are lying down, seated, or standing, feel that tingling connection. She is always there to nurture, nourish, and comfort you, reminding you that you belong.
Soften.
Melt.
Trust.

✨️Centre yourself and connect to your core, your breath, and your heart. As each breath rises and falls, allow yourself to soften and settle more deeply into your natural form.

✨️Feel into your sensations, or rest within the silence. Tune into the subtle rhythms of your breath, the steady beat of your heart, and the gentle current of energy flowing through you.

✨️Rest in the spacious silence within and all around you. Linger here, allowing the gentle embrace of stillness to hold you.

this article is on the common cold and the Chinese Medicine perspective.

Perhaps the most misunderstood health event is the common cold. The sneezing, irritated runny nose, headache, tiredness, scratchy throat, a little cough maybe—such nuisances, we think. In Chinese medicine we call it wind-cold, or external wind, a condition that is so multi-faceted that it occupies...

August is already here, and Imbolc reminds us that warmer weather is on its way. However, the days are still cool, and there is a noticeable chill in the air, so be sure to keep your body warm.

Keep warm, especially around the kidneys, feet, back of the neck, and top of the head areas where cold winds can enter and disrupt the body during chilly, windy days.

Keep your body warm from the inside by avoiding cold drinks and foods. Choose meals at least at room temperature, and support your inner warmth with nourishing, moist foods such as porridge, congee, stews, soups, and cups of herbal tea.

Please wear layers to class to support your overall health and comfort. You will warm up as you begin moving and breathing during practice, then need to cover up again for the final meditation, so consider bringing a shawl or blanket.

The new Friday class is going well and will continue for as long as it is needed.

I will be away for two weeks in September, from the 10th to the 24th. Friday classes resume on 25th September, and Monday classes resume on 28th September.

Qigong Flow classes:
Mondays at 11 am at The Yoga Place, Blacksmiths (Mitti Street, Blacksmiths).
Fridays at 9.30 am at The Studio, (Shop 10, Orana Road, Gwandalan).
