AMH stands for Anti-Mullerian Hormone, and it's one of the key markers used in fertility assessment.
The tiny cells in developing egg sacs secrete AMH. A blood test measuring AMH levels gives an indication of ovarian reserve, essentially how many eggs remain at a given point in time.
A few important things to know:
• AMH can be tested at any time during the menstrual cycle
• Oral contraception does not affect AMH levels
• AMH measures egg quantity, not egg quality
• It is one of several tools used alongside age and other test results
"Any time you'd like to see a fertility specialist, even if it's just to do some basic tests and reassurance, I'm very happy to see you - however soon into your journey." - Dr Erin Fuller
