☕️Grab a cuppa, 🧘♀️cop a squat and 👄 let's talk about...
The 7 Etheric Planes that we pass through as we transition.
Many spiritual traditions, near-death experiencers, mystics, mediums, and esoteric teachings speak about “planes” or “realms” that consciousness may move through after physical death. There is no single universally proven map of the afterlife, but across cultures there are surprisingly similar themes: transition, healing, reflection, learning, and energetic evolution.
From a spiritual perspective, the journey is often described as a movement through layers of vibration or consciousness rather than physical places.
So, here,I thought I'd share what is are the commonly held spiritual interpretations of the planes crossed after passing:
🌏The Physical Plane
This is our earthly experience — the dense material world where we live through the body, emotions, lessons, relationships, and soul growth.
At death, many believe consciousness separates from the physical body while awareness continues.
People who have had near-death experiences often describe:
Floating above the body
Feeling peaceful or detached
Seeing loved ones or spiritual beings
Entering light or another dimension
✨️The Etheric Plane (The Immediate Transition)
This is believed to be the closest layer to Earth energetically.
Some describe it as:
A bridge between worlds
A temporary holding or adjustment space
A place where souls become aware they have passed
Souls may:
Observe loved ones briefly
Release attachment to the physical body
Experience confusion if death was sudden or traumatic
Be greeted by guides, ancestors, or loved ones
Mediums often describe spirits closest to the Earth vibration as existing within this layer.
✨️The Astral Plane
The astral realm is spoken about in many spiritual systems including Theosophy, Hermetic teachings, Hindu philosophy, and metaphysical spirituality.
This plane is often associated with:
Emotion
Thought forms
Healing
Desire
Reflection
Some believe the astral plane has multiple levels:
Lower astral: unresolved fear, anger, attachment, addiction, confusion
Middle astral: rest, reunion, emotional processing
Higher astral: beauty, creativity, soul communities, learning
In spiritual teachings, the vibration of consciousness determines where the soul naturally resonates.
✨️The Healing or Life Review Plane
Many near-death experiencers describe a profound life review.
Not as punishment — but as deep understanding.
Souls may:
Feel the emotional impact of their actions on others
Understand soul lessons
Experience compassion and expanded awareness
See how events interconnected
This is often described as being held in unconditional love rather than judgment.
Some traditions describe healing temples, spiritual counsellors, or restorative energy spaces where souls recover from difficult incarnations.
✨️The Mental or Higher Learning Plane
This is said to be a realm of expanded wisdom and soul understanding.
Here, souls may:
Study lessons from previous incarnations
Prepare for future growth
Connect with soul groups
Explore spiritual knowledge
Work with guides or teachers
Some spiritual traditions call these:
Halls of wisdom
Akashic realms
Temples of learning
This plane is associated more with consciousness and insight than emotion.
✨️The Soul Plane / Causal Plane
Many teachings describe this as a level where the soul remembers its true essence beyond personality and human identity.
Experiences here are said to include:
Deep unity
Soul recognition
Higher purpose
Connection to soul family
Expanded multidimensional awareness
The sense of separation begins dissolving here.
✨️The Divine or Source Consciousness Plane
At the highest levels described in mystical traditions, consciousness reunites with Divine Source, Universal Consciousness, God, Creator, or Infinite Light.
Descriptions often include:
Pure unconditional love
Infinite peace
Timelessness
Oneness with all existence
Complete knowing
Some believe souls remain here. Others believe souls eventually choose further incarnations for continued growth and experience.
There are some very important spiritual themes across traditions & despite different terminology, many belief systems share these same ideas:
😊Consciousness Continues
✨️The soul or awareness survives physical death.
〰️Vibration Matters
Fear, love, healing, attachment, and awareness influence energetic experience.
💗Love Is Central
Countless NDE accounts describe overwhelming unconditional love and a sense of peace.
🪞Many spiritual teachings describe self-reflection and soul accountability rather than punishment.
🍃Growth Continues
🧬The afterlife is often portrayed not as an ending, but as continued evolution.
As a psychic medium, I have notice that spirit communication often feels like tuning into different energetic frequencies, much like tuning into your favourite radio or TV station, with spirits presenting from varying “distances” or vibrational states depending on healing, awareness, and how closely connected they remain to earthly energy.
Ultimately, no living person can fully verify the complete structure of the afterlife. These teachings are spiritual frameworks meant to help us as spiritual beings having a human experience to understand transition, consciousness, and the possibility that death is not the end — but a return, expansion, or continuation of the soul journey.
