I’ve just completed another round of advanced Brain Gym training, and it was a powerful reminder of how much targeted movement can change the way we learn, focus, and process the world around us.

Movement on its own is helpful — but movement applied with intention, linked to the specific challenges we’re facing, and used in the right context can completely shift how the brain organises information.

This is where Brain Gym becomes a game changer for anyone who struggles to focus, concentrate, read, write, comprehend, or remember what they’ve just learnt.

If you or someone you care about is finding learning harder than it needs to be, you’re not alone. There are practical, gentle ways to support the brain and body to work together more effectively.

Reach out if you’d like to explore how Brain Gym and kinesiology can help with focus, learning, and confidence. I’m always happy to chat about what’s possible.

If you’ve ever felt like information goes “in one ear and out the other,” you’re not alone. Whether you’re at school, studying as an adult, or learning on the job, we are all lifelong learners — and we all learn differently.
Struggling to focus, sit still, remember things, or take in new information doesn’t mean you can’t learn. It simply means your brain has its own style, and sometimes stress, environment, or past experiences get in the way.
Understanding how you learn or how stress is impacting your learning can open the door to confidence, clarity, and progress. There is always a way forward, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. Please DM me to discuss options or to just have a no obligation chat about what's going on and what you can do.

Moving From Powerless to Empowered

When I’m working with young people who are struggling in school, one thing I hear often is, “It’s out of my control.” And honestly, a lot of the time they’re right — school systems, expectations, other people’s opinions… none of that is theirs to control.
But what I see shift everything is when they realise there are parts of their life that belong fully to them.
What they can take responsibility for:
• how they speak to themselves
• the effort they put into what matters
• the habits that support their wellbeing
• the boundaries they set
• the next small step they choose
What they can’t control:
• other people’s expectations
• school pressures
• past experiences
• the behaviour or opinions of others
When young people stop trying to carry what isn’t theirs, they free up energy to focus on what is. That’s when they move from feeling like a victim of their circumstances to feeling empowered to shape their own story.
And it doesn’t happen all at once — it happens in small, steady choices that build confidence, clarity and momentum.
If you or your young person is feeling stuck or overwhelmed, support is available. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

We put so much effort into keeping our bodies healthy — moving, stretching, eating well, building strength. But our mental and emotional health need that same kind of regular care.
Just like physical fitness, mental wellbeing isn’t a one-off achievement. It’s something we build through small, consistent habits: checking in with ourselves, talking things through, learning how to regulate stress, and giving our nervous system space to reset.
When we work on our inner world, we grow:
• clarity
• resilience
• steadiness
• confidence
• the ability to handle life’s challenges with more ease
If you’ve been feeling stressed, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply “not yourself,” it’s okay to pause and take that as a sign. Your mental health matters — and it deserves the same attention you’d give to your physical health.
Taking the first step doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be intentional.

Many of you know me through rugby, local schools or the Newcastle community — and like most people, I’ve had my own ups and downs along the way.
If you’re feeling stressed, flat, overwhelmed, not yourself, or just wanting something to change, I want you to know you’re not alone. You might be dealing with:
• stress, anxiety or worry
• low motivation or energy
• big emotions or tension in the body
• trouble learning, focusing or performing
• feeling stuck or unsure where to go next
If you’re ready to understand what’s behind these experiences and how they’re affecting your life, I’m here to support you.
Through open conversations and mind–body techniques, I help people get to the root cause, build confidence, and reconnect with their own inner resources.
I’ve opened a new clinic space and would love to support anyone wanting to feel more grounded, clear and capable in their everyday life.
If this speaks to you or someone you care about, reach out anytime.

I’m excited to share a few updates about my work at Mind Body Health Solutions.
I’ve now completed my Masters in Narrative Therapy, allowing me to offer fully integrated mind–body counselling sessions that support people with stress, learning challenges, emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
I’m now registered with the Australian Counselling Association on top of my existing registration with the Australian Kinesiology Association, bringing together counselling, narrative practice and mind–body techniques to help people understand the root cause of what’s going on — not just the symptoms.
As someone deeply connected to our community through sport, schools, and families, I’m passionate about helping people discover their inner resources and navigate life with more clarity, confidence and balance.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the drive to achieve things, sometimes these things are worth the effort and other times we realise the things we thought were important don’t actually help us be the person we want to be or give us the life we want. We also tend to measure our value on what we do and not who we are. If you want to discover what’s truly important to you and what’s getting in the way of achieving this, kinesiology is a way to tap into your subconscious and discover your meaning and purpose. By knowing ourselves better and identifying the things that hold us back we become more confident in who we are, giving us the resilience and courage to take the risks to pursue the life we want.

All our experiences on life’s journey can impact our physical, psychological, or emotional wellbeing in a range of different ways. The human body can react to stress in ways that impact things like our digestion, posture, immune responses or even the way we think and act. Bringing awareness to these experiences and how the body reacts to them is a key part of discovering ways of returning your body back to balance. If we continue to supress or ignore the signs of unprocessed experiences, it is difficult to address the bodies reactions to them. Kinesiology is a gentle and creative way to tap into what’s going on and the possibilities for addressing this, so please feel free to drop me an email to chat about how I can help.

I have the privilege of working alongside young people every week. I get to hear their stories and discover their amazing skills and knowledge used to respond to the many challenges as they transition to adulthood in a complicated world. Being a teenager can be a tricky time of life where stress and anxiety can begin to take hold with the pressures of study, work, relationships, and life all weighing them down. This is a great opportunity to start imbedding ways of dealing with stress and building a strong sense of what’s important to enable young people to focus on the things that matter to them. The things that allow them to bounce back when things don’t go right and the things that give them purpose and direction. If you know a young person that is feeling a little lost or overwhelmed, please reach out. I can work with them to uncover what’s important and find ways to improve their wellbeing.

We men can at times find it difficult to ask for help when we need it most. We often feel like we have to deal with things on our own. However, the truth is, the more we bring awareness to the things that take us away from the life we want, the more likely we are to do something about it and feel good about ourselves. The best way to do this is to share your experience with others and discover the many possibilities available to get things back on track. As a mate, son, father and brother, men’s health is important to me, I want to take this opportunity to break the stigma and stereotypes that prevent us from taking action by reaching out to any guys who might be struggling or stuck in some part of their life. Just flick me an email or book an appointment and we can take the first step in making a difference. [email protected]
