What should a good SIL home feel like? 🏠

Like a home. Not a facility, not a ward, not a placement.

A kitchen someone can cook in. A couch worth fighting over. Housemates who feel like mates. Support that is there when you need it and out of the way when you don't.

You do. Every plan starts with the person, not a template. Your routine, your goals, and the things you want to get better at all shape what support looks like day to day.

Some days that is a hand in the morning and your own space by lunch. Some days it is more. It gets worked out with you, then it flexes as life changes.

That is the whole idea of supported independent living. The support fits you, not the other way around ❤️

What happens to your unspent NDIS funds? 💰

There is a change coming to how this works. Within your current plan, unspent funds still roll over between funding periods like they do now. The change is at plan level. When plans move to set end dates and renewals, leftover funds will not carry into the next plan.

The takeaway is simple. Use the funding you are given while your plan is active.

What do the new NDIS prices mean for your plan? 💰

The new NDIS Pricing Schedule started on 1 July 2026, replacing the old Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits document. Support worker rates have gone up in line with the Fair Work Commission wage decision and the increase to superannuation.

Here is the part worth knowing. Your provider cannot just change what they charge you. They have to talk to you first and update your service agreement, and you have to agree before it takes effect.
