Have you ever walked away from a therapy session feeling like your entire story had been reduced to a diagnosis?

While diagnoses can be beneficial for providing understanding, language, and access to support, they are only one small part of who you are. They cannot capture your creativity, your strengths, your experiences, your dreams, your relationships, your resilience, or the unique way you move through the world.

Too often, people begin to see themselves through the lens of what is “wrong” with them, rather than recognising the depth and complexity of who they truly are.

This is one of the reasons I was drawn to Transpersonal Art Therapy.

Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, Transpersonal Art Therapy invites us to explore the whole person. Through creative expression, symbolism, imagination, and reflection, we begin to uncover the stories, beliefs, patterns, strengths, and inner wisdom that exist beneath the surface.

Art can help us access parts of ourselves that are difficult to put into words. It can reveal what is holding us back, what is asking to be expressed, and what is waiting to emerge.

You are more than a label.
You are more than a diagnosis.

Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped creating because we started believing our art had to be “good” to matter.

Maybe it was a comment from a teacher, comparison to others, or the pressure to make something perfect. Slowly, creativity became about skill, technique, and outcome rather than expression, play, curiosity, and joy.

But creativity is something we are all born with. Art was never meant to be about perfection — it was meant to be about feeling, exploring, imagining, expressing, and connecting with ourselves.

Your creativity does not disappear just because you stopped doing art. It’s still there waiting for you underneath the self-doubt, expectations, and fear of getting it “wrong.”

You do not need to be an artist to create
You only need to give yourself permission to begin again

You may think that in therapy you have to sit across from the therapist in a way that almost feels like an interview. This works for some people but not for others!

I encourage my clients to make themselves as comfortable as possible. So if this means doing our session sitting on the ground AMAZING! If this means you want to wrap yourself up in a blanket and lie on the floor PERFECT!

Each art therapy session is tailored to YOU and your needs and wants. It’s a safe space for you to come and express yourself, exactly as you are.

DOOM SCROLL INTERRUPTION😂🫶🏼

We all have those moments when the Instagram doom scrolling sucks us in and we don’t know if we have been doing it for minutes or hours.

So let’s take a moment to come back to ourselves, the present moment and break the doom scrolling!!

It’s amazing what a few deep breaths and mindful awareness can do to bring you back to the here and the now.

🌱Creating A Community Tree 🌱

This piece was created across two different community events, with each person adding their own hand and a piece of their story to the tree.

I had the privilege of connecting with people as they created– hearing their ideas, witnessing their expression and holding space for them to share a part of who they are.

Watching it all come together was such a beautiful reminder that while we are all individuals, we are also deeply connected.

I’m so grateful to have shared this experience with everyone who contributed or even stopped by to have a conversation and connect ☺️🌸🌿

Morning mirror affirmations are so simple yet so powerful 🌞

You can say these while you’re brushing your teeth, doing your hair or putting makeup on. It’s such a beautiful way to start your day by showing yourself love, compassion and kindness.

So begin by looking yourself in the mirror, giving yourself a smile and saying:

🌀I express myself authentically and unapologetically

One of the most beautiful things about creating art is learning to witness what flows out of you and onto the page.

Rather than creating from a space of skill, technique or what is supposed to “look good” – you instead allow yourself to be guided by your art material.

You allow the colours to pick you. You allow your paintbrush to move your hand. You allow the lines to flow freely onto your page.

You notice and you observe.

It becomes a quiet conversation with yourself as you tune into what your art may be telling you. The story it may hold and how it can reflect what is happening in your inner world.
