Sanjay is an Associate Professor of the University of Sydney with the Royal Prince Alfred Academic Institute. He is lead researcher at the Institute with goals of developing and creating a culture of academia within the Breast Department.

Today is Cancer Nurses Day, and I wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the nurses who provide amazing care for our patients, and across the country.

In particular, I want to highlight the nurses who provide such incredible care and support to our patients. Without them, the supportive, compassionate and high-quality care we provide simply wouldn’t be possible.

We are incredibly grateful that cancer nurses are recognised today and hope they all have an amazing day 💙 Thank you for everything you do!

Last month we had the pleasure to speak with Ursula from Channel 10 to discuss the role of negative pressure dressings in the post-operative setting. Following my recent opportunity to co-chair the Smith+Nephew ASEAN PICO Summit alongside leading colleagues in the field, it was rewarding to share some of these insights with a wider audience

One of the most important themes to emerge from these conversations is the significance of post-operative care and the critical role it plays in patient outcomes.

While much attention is often placed on the procedure itself, the significance of the post-operative period is equally vital to achieve the best possible results

It’s encouraging to see growing recognition of this and I’m grateful to contribute to these discussions at both a clinical and national level

On , I want to acknowledge the incredible women I have the privilege of meeting through my work as a breast surgeon, patients, colleagues, and mentors.

Working alongside women facing breast cancer is a constant reminder of strength and resilience. Every diagnosis is deeply personal, and it’s something I never take lightly.

To my patients, thank you for the trust you place in me. It’s a responsibility I value deeply and a reminder of how meaningful this work is.

And to my colleagues and mentors, especially the women leading the way in medicine - thank you.
