Last week Dr Robinson visited the USA for a busy and rewarding week of shoulder surgery education and collaboration.

On 13 May, Dr. Mark Robinson completed a surgical visitation with Dr Ryan Simovitch, board-certified orthopaedic shoulder surgeon and Director of the Shoulder Division at Hospital for Special Surgery.

During the visit in West Palm Beach FL, Dr. Robinson observed six reverse total shoulder replacement procedures performed for a combination of rotator cuff tear arthropathy and glenohumeral joint arthritis.

Dr. Robinson was also honoured and humbled to be invited as a guest speaker and panellist at this year’s 15th Annual Masters Course in Shoulder Arthroplasty, held in Charleston SC on May 14–15.

This prestigious international meeting brings together some of the world’s leading shoulder surgeons to share the latest advances, surgical techniques, research, and innovations in shoulder arthroplasty and reconstruction.

It was a privilege to exchange ideas, observe advanced surgical techniques, and collaborate with internationally respected colleagues — all with the shared goal of improving outcomes for patients undergoing shoulder surgery.

Dr Robinson was recently invited as a guest speaker to deliver a workshop for the Noosa Hospital theatre team. The session focused on the indications for anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement, alongside a detailed review of shoulder anatomy.

Practical insights were also shared on instrumentation and how theatre staff can effectively assist in the implantation of shoulder replacements.

We value opportunities like this to work closely with our hospital colleagues and contribute to ongoing education—helping ensure patients receive the highest standard of care at every stage of their surgical journey.
