Visual Language Connections Danika Maher is an Early Childhood Teacher and Speech Pathology Assistant. Her passion is early language and visual communication.

At Visual Language Connections we aim to support language learning, community participation, connection building and access to learning through visual communication strategies like Key Word Sign She has experience working within Early Education Settings and alongside a team of Speech Pathologists. Danika has completed a Certificate II, III and IV in Auslan and is currently completing her Diploma of Auslan.

**NEW** Online workshop- Key Word Signing for the Early Education/School/Home Setting

Join Danika on Thursday May 14th from 6:30-8:30pm (AEST) for our two hour introductory workshop.

You'll learn what Key Word Signing is, how to incorporate visual signs to support expressive and receptive communication, and common questions for parents/carers. The course includes practical examples of ways you can incorporate visual communication strategies (like Key Word Sign) within your home or Early Learning setting and the benefits for children aged 0-12.

NOTE: This course is KEY WORD SIGNING and while individual Auslan signs are used the presenter is not teaching Auslan. We recommend sourcing an accredited organisation like Deaf Connect or your local TAFE if you want to learn Auslan, including pathways to becoming an Auslan interpreter. To learn Auslan and embrace the culture of this language, learning is recommended to occur in the context of your local Deaf community through a native signer
