I received this reflection from Ashleigh this morning, and it honestly made me both smile and teary.

𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇 — 𝐎𝐖𝐋

It’s dusk in the Mystical Garden; you’re taking a stroll down a meandering pathway. Suddenly, you hear the hoot of an owl. You look up and see a large owl. His eyes are huge and luminous. It feels like he’s looking into your soul. Due to the owl’s mysterious nighttime activity, some believe that they bring messages from the spirit world.

In Japan they are considered an auspicious bird as their name means “luck” and “protection.” Ancient Egyptians believed that owls had the power to protect one in the darkness and beyond. In Viking tradition, they were connected to the goddess of wisdom. In Greek culture owls were major symbols of wisdom and connected to the Goddess Athena. The owl sits at the shoulder of Athena and Merlin, revealing sacred truths.

Because owls can see in the dark, they are often associated with the truth. The excellent sight of an owl in the darkness corresponds with your ability to perceive the reality of a situation, even in the murkiest of conditions.

It can also mean to look for someone who might not be speaking the truth to you.

When you get this card, it means that it’s important to trust your intuition and perceptions.

It also can mean that it’s time to embrace your dark side, as well as your light. Through doing so you will be in balance.
Trust your ability to see the deepest truth in situations and in people.

𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 — 𝐏𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐒

You find yourself in a part of the garden that has grown wild — and this can be a good thing. Sometimes w**ds attract pollinators, beneficial insects, and help restore exposed soil. Wild growth can indicate creativity and spontaneity, but in this part of the garden, invasive w**ds are overgrown and choking all the other plants.
You find yourself pulling out the w**ds. With every w**d you pull, you feel that you can breathe better. It’s as if these are w**ds in your soul. You can feel yourself becoming lighter and brighter. Although you might have the inclination to cut the w**ds, it is only when you remove them by their roots that you can abate this uncontrolled growth.

When you receive this card, it’s an indication to begin w**ding your life. Release people and situations that are dragging your energy down. If there is someone in your life who always leaves you feeling exhausted, this card suggests it may be that you need to spend less time with them.

If your home, car, or workspace feels cluttered and drab, begin a massive clutter clearing. Let go of things that you don’t use or that don’t bring joy to your life.

When you pull the w**ds in your life, you can heal the need to be in control and the tension about acting in a certain way or needing things to follow a certain path.

Weeding allows for the things that you desire to grow in your life because they finally have the space to do so.
When w**ding your life, it’s valuable to examine the root cause of the inner and outer clutter in your life. Simply removing clutter without examining why it is there in the first place often means that it reinstates itself.

𝐅𝐋𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 — 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐄

A slender willow grows at the edge of the garden pond. Her flexible branches dip lightly into the waters. As the soft wind rises, her elegant boughs sway to and fro like a mystic dancer. Her dangling leaves whisper across the water in lazy designs. There are many legends regarding the willow tree. In ancient Athens it was a practice of the priests of Asclepius to place willow branches in their temples, in the belief that it would draw mystical healing energy. Willows are often associated with gods and goddesses, such as Hecate, Artemis, and Mercury. The willow was also sacred to poets, for the sound of the wind through the willow was thought to influence poetic expression. In Celtic traditions the willow has always been known as a tree of dreaming, inspiration, and enchantment.

Just as a willow tree is flexible in the wind, this card encourages you to be flexible in your life. Be willing to bend and even to yield. There is power in doing this as a choice rather than as a forfeit of your will.

Even though there are times to stand strong, sometimes the greater bravery is to concede or adjust to a situation, rather than face it head-on.

By being adaptable you can succeed, whereas someone who is more rigid may not. In rough winds a strong oak tree may break, while the willow can bend without snapping.

Adjust to life rather than fight it. Surrender to the process.
As the willow can weather storms, so too can you weather life challenges.

Remember, like the willow, be flexible in your life. Be willing to bend, rather than break. Be amenable to change, and you will flourish in wondrous ways.

𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐄 — 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍

Tucked away in a hidden area of the garden dwells a dragon. He is a wonderful combination of thoughtfulness and courage. He understands that there are times to step back, but there are also times to step forward with power and courage. Simply being in his presence, you can feel incredible potency and strength radiating out from him. In cultures around the world, dragons are imbued with symbolism. In the East they are considered a symbol of power, good luck, and prosperity. Although the meaning and symbolism varies throughout the world, they are considered both benevolent and also dangerous. And dragons universally represent incredible power.

Although there are times in life to step back, this isn’t one of them. Step forward and throw your shoulders back. Speak up for yourself. Honour your truth. Don’t allow yourself to be held back by the limiting beliefs of others or your own limiting beliefs. Be brave.
Even if you feel hesitant, take action with passion and even with delight. Being courageous doesn’t mean that you aren’t afraid or feeling resistant; it means that you go forward anyway. Fearless means just that: fear less.

Acknowledge that you are frightened, and then take action anyway.
You are a Light Bearer for others. Through your brave action, others find their courage as well.

Other meanings for this card can include expanding wealth and prosperity, as dragons encircle their wealth. It can also mean to take action to protect your abundance.

Dragons are highly protective, so this card can also mean that if there are less-than-positive forces within your life, you are protected. Alternatively, take action to protect yourself.

In the dark of the night, the Mystical Forest comes alive. As the sun sets, ethereal fireflies silently move throughout the trees and begin to blink, like tiny lighthouses in the dark. You can feel the magic awaken!

To the Cherokee, fireflies are known as “little sparks.” It’s believed that they are the souls of ancestors who bring comfort, blessings, protection, and guidance to the living. This is similar to a Japanese legend that states that fireflies are the souls of those who have passed on. To the Navajo they are sacred guardians who bring balance and beauty into life and are seen as spiritual messengers from beyond. The Ojibwa tribe believes that they bring healing and protective energies. In cultures around the world, the firefly represents illumination and the light of the soul, and they even allow access to the realm of spirit.

You are the light! Now is the time for you to allow the light of your soul to shine brightly. Even if you are surrounded by the darkness of uncertainty or by people who see the world in a different way than you, or who can’t see your light, be willing to shine anyway. You came here to let the world see your radiance. Be the light!! You’ve got this.
