Our OT students from Australian Catholic University (ACU) are working hard on their project, “Building Independence: Life Skills for Everyday Living.”

As part of their project, they’re seeking input from parents and caregivers to better understand what families need and what would be most helpful when supporting children and teens to develop everyday life skills.

Your feedback will help our students develop practical, family-centred OT resources and supports that are relevant to the real-life needs of children, teens and their families.

Speechie tip: When reading with your child, try pausing before the last word of a familiar sentence and let them fill in the blank! This encourages language, participation and confidence while keeping reading fun.
So grab a favourite book, get cosy and read together! 📖💫

We are getting ready for a very special Book Week Tuesday! Come dressed as your favourite book character and let your imagination run wild! 🦸‍♀️🧚‍♂️🦖👑 We can’t wait to see which much-loved character comes to life in at Sunshines! 💛

Speech Tip for Book Week:
When reading with your little one, try using different voices for different characters! Changing your pitch, volume and expression makes reading more interactive and can encourage children to join in, listen and build their language skills🗣️📚

✨Check this magnificent creation! Lincoln has been working very hard on his fine motor skills for a while now, and has come so far! Out of clay, Lincoln had made himself, his dog and his alien toy. Through this activity, Lincoln has been working on:
- Hand strength
- Finger strength and isolation
- Bilateral coordination
- Planning an idea
- Copying shapes, model and colours
- And lots more!
