Sometimes it is tempting to think a child is simply trying to avoid school.
However, recurring tummy aches and headaches can sometimes be connected with anxiety, stress or overload.
Children donโt always have the words to say:
โIโm worried about what will happen today.โ
โThe classroom feels too much.โ
โIโm frightened Iโll get something wrong.โ
โIโm having trouble keeping everything together.โ
Instead, their body may do the talking for them.
That doesnโt mean we should assume every symptom is anxiety โ physical symptoms deserve appropriate medical attention.
Yet it is also worth becoming curious about what is happening around the symptom.
Sometimes understanding the brain-body connection gives us a very different way of supporting a child.
