When I was younger, I think my idea of ageing well was mostly about looking younger.

Good skin. Looking healthy. Maybe avoiding too many wrinkles along the way.

My definition has definitely changed.

Don't get me wrong, I still care about my skin and how I look. I work in skin health, so it would be rather ridiculous for me to pretend otherwise.

But as I've gotten older, I've started thinking much more about what I want my body to be able to do in another 10, 20 or 30 years.

I want to be strong. I want to move well. I want to maintain a healthy weight and muscle. I want energy. I want to travel, paddleboard, exercise and keep doing the things I enjoy without my body unnecessarily limiting me.

There's a lot of talk about longevity at the moment, but the part that interests me most is healthspan.

Not just adding more years to life, but hopefully adding more good years.

And perhaps that's what ageing well means to me now.
Looking after the outside, absolutely.

But paying just as much attention to what's happening underneath it.

I don't think we have to choose between looking good and being healthy. I think we're allowed to care about both.

So, where does the fluid actually go after a lymphatic treatment?

It doesn’t simply disappear.

Lymphatic therapy helps encourage excess fluid from the tissues into the lymphatic circulation. From there, lymph eventually returns to the bloodstream, where the fluid can be processed and filtered by the body.

Your kidneys then play an important role in regulating and removing excess fluid — which is why some people notice they need to urinate more after a treatment.

It’s also why I prefer talking about supporting lymphatic flow, rather than “flushing toxins.”

Your lymphatic system already knows what to do. Sometimes, we’re simply helping it move things along.

Samantha 😘

Your skin isn’t dirty. So why are we scrubbing it like it is? 😉
When skin feels rough, dull or congested, the instinct is often to exfoliate harder.

More scrubs. More acids. More products.
But good exfoliation isn’t about being aggressive.

It’s about choosing the right kind of exfoliation for what your skin actually needs.

That might be a chemical peel to encourage controlled skin renewal, microdermabrasion to refine surface texture, or dermaplaning to gently remove built-up dead skin cells and fine facial hair.

Different treatments. Different jobs.

And sometimes, doing less to your skin — but doing it properly — gets you much further than constantly trying to scrub the problem away.

Smarter, not harder.

Happy Days,
Samantha 😘

Hunger isn’t just coming from your stomach.

It’s actually a conversation happening between your brain, gut, hormones and the food you eat.

Two hormones play an interesting role here.

Ghrelin helps signal hunger, while leptin helps tell the brain we have enough stored energy.

Insulin, blood glucose, sleep and stress can influence the conversation too.

That’s why hunger isn’t always as simple as an empty stomach.
A poor night’s sleep can make you hungrier the next day. A meal low in protein and fibre may leave you looking for food again sooner. And during weight loss, your body can respond to losing weight by increasing hunger signals — essentially encouraging you to replace the energy you’ve lost.

This is one of the reasons I don’t like reducing weight loss to “just eat less.”

Understanding why you’re hungry can be just as important as deciding what you’re going to eat.

Your appetite isn’t a lack of willpower. It’s biology — and biology is something we can learn to work with.

We spend so much of our younger years wanting to change our bodies.

Then somewhere along the way, the conversation can become about trying to get our old body back.

I think there’s a better way.

Look after the body you have now.

Keep it strong.
Nourish it.
Care for your skin.
Support it through change.

And do the things that help you feel good in it.

You don’t need to be the woman you were at 30.

Take care of the woman you are now. 🤍

Sometimes, you have to change too.

I’ve been thinking about change a lot lately.

I’m someone who likes to know where I’m
going. I like a plan. And when something works, I’m generally quite happy to keep doing it.

But life doesn’t always work that way.

Industries change.
Rules change.
New information comes along.
Circumstances change.

And sometimes you realise that what got you here isn’t necessarily what will take you forward.

Our bodies aren’t all that different.

The way you lost weight at 30 may simply not work the same way at 45 or 55.

Your hormones change. Your metabolism changes. Your lifestyle changes. Your sleep, stress, muscle mass and priorities change.
Yet so many women keep going back to what worked before — and wonder why their body isn’t responding the way it used to.

Maybe the answer isn’t to try harder.

Maybe it’s being willing to change the approach.

I’m having to do a little of that myself at the moment.

There are things changing behind the studio, and while I’m not quite ready to share them yet, I’m looking at what comes next with an open mind.

Because change doesn’t have to mean losing what worked.

Sometimes it’s about keeping the best of what you know — and being brave enough to make room for something new.

Perhaps that’s something we can both do.

Change, when we need to.

Eating less isn’t always the answer.

When weight loss slows, it’s tempting to think the solution must be to cut back even further.

Less food. Fewer calories. Try harder.

But there comes a point where eating less isn’t necessarily helping you move forward.

I want my clients getting enough protein, protecting their muscle and giving their body the nutrition it needs — particularly while losing weight.

Because the goal isn’t to become really good at eating as little as possible.

The goal is to lose the weight, protect your health along the way, and then know how to live and eat normally again afterwards.

That last part matters more than people realise.

Samantha 😘

Collagen might slow down with age, but your skin hasn’t forgotten how to repair itself.

Skin needling works by stimulating your skin’s natural repair response, encouraging collagen and elastin to help improve texture, fine lines, scarring and overall skin quality.

Not about looking 25. Just about looking good in the skin you’re in.

Menopause doesn’t break your metabolism.

But it does change the rules.

And I think that’s an important distinction.

As oestrogen starts to decline, the body can become less sensitive to insulin, we gradually lose muscle more easily, and where we store fat can change. That’s why weight around the middle can suddenly become much harder to shift — even when you haven’t dramatically changed what you’re eating.

Then there’s the puffiness.

Hormonal changes can influence fluid balance, circulation and the way our tissues hold fluid. So feeling heavier, swollen or just a little more “puffy” can become part of the picture too.

This is where supporting lymphatic movement can be really helpful.

And our skin isn’t sitting this one out either.

Oestrogen plays an important role in collagen, hydration and skin thickness. As it declines, skin can become drier, thinner and lose some of the firmness it once had.

Weight. Lymph. Skin.

They can seem like three completely separate things, but during menopause they’re often being influenced by the same hormonal shift.

The answer isn’t to fight your body harder.

It’s to understand that the rules have changed — and change how you support it.

THE ORIGINAL.

Somewhere along the way, so many women start believing their body has let them down.

The weight that suddenly feels harder to lose.
The hunger that feels different.
The energy that isn’t what it used to be.
The clothes that don’t fit the same way.
The body you once understood suddenly feels unfamiliar.

And so begins the fight.
Eat less. Try harder. Be stricter. Start again Monday.

But your body isn’t the enemy.
It’s communicating.

Hormones change. Metabolism changes. Sleep changes. Stress changes. Life changes.
And sometimes the answer isn’t to punish your body harder.

It’s to finally understand what it’s asking for.

I’ve worked with women and weight management since 2013, and one thing has never changed:

You don’t need to apologise for your body.

You need to learn how to work with it again.

Because for most women, this was never really about becoming skinny.
It was about looking in the mirror and feeling like themselves again.

Samantha 😘
