The System of Reiki was developed in the early 1900's in Japan, by Mikao Usui. It is applied through gentle touch, using the Usui System of Natural Healing. It is a technique that is used for stress reduction and relaxation, which can help to promote healing. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "universal" and Ki which is "life force". Reiki is based on the idea that an
unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If our "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. Reiki is not dependent on any beliefs at all, and will work whether you believe in it or not. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing that can be used on anyone. It is a technique that treats the whole person - mind, body, spirit and emotions. A non-touch technique can also be used if you feel you would prefer that. I am very happy to perform Reiki treatments on both children (of all ages) and adults. I can also treat animals with Reiki energy. I can treat all household pets and horses. Animals have an energy field and chakra system just like us and are extremely receptive to receiving Reiki energy. When they have had enough, they will generally get up and walk away. Reiki can be helpful to animals for stress, anxiety relief, behavioural issues, trauma and pain relief. It can assist in bringing increased calmness and vitality into your pet's life. The significance of the number (28) that is included in the name of my business, is that the 28th is the day of my Mum's Birthday in August. She died from breast cancer when she was only 56. I remember very clearly that when she was having her treatment, she was also attending at the Cancer Council regularly for Reiki treatments. I can still remember how good those treatments made her feel, despite what she was going through. I would really love to be able to give something to people in similar situations as my mum's, so as well as doing paid Reiki sessions, I will be volunteering some of my time at the Cancer Council to provide Reiki sessions there too.
