Itā€™s actually pretty goodā€¦

But ā€˜pretty goodā€™ isnā€™t the same as curious, exciting, interesting & aliveā€¦

So, Iā€™m paying more attention to the little things that make think, ā€˜Iā€™d like to do that!ā€™ā€¦

And then, when I can, Iā€™m doing themā€¦

For me, TEA - šŸ—ŗļø Travel, šŸŒŸExperiences & šŸ§—ā€ā™€ļø Adventure - is about staying curiousā€¦

Itā€™s a reason to step out of autopilotā€¦

āœ”ļø book the trip
āœ”ļø try the cheese-making course
āœ”ļø go to the opera
āœ”ļø say yes to something Iā€™ve never done before
āœ”ļø have coffee with someone Iā€™ve just met
āœ”ļø take myself somewhere Iā€™ve never been before

Sometimes the experience is amazing, sometimes itā€™s just OK & occasionally I think, ā€˜Well, I donā€™t need THAT again!ā€™ šŸ˜‚ ā€¦

But every experience tells me somethingā€¦

āœ”ļø what excites me
āœ”ļø what challenges me
āœ”ļø what energises me
āœ”ļø what Iā€™ve outgrown
āœ”ļø what I want more of

And sometimesā€¦

šŸ™Œ what I didnā€™t even know I wanted

Thatā€™s what I love about staying curiousā€¦

Youā€™re not just adding more things to your life, youā€™re discovering more about yourselfā€¦

And maybe thatā€™s why Iā€™m passionate about Travel, Experiences & Adventureā€¦

āœ–ļø not as things to tick off

Which is both exciting & sometimes terrifying šŸ˜‚ ā€¦

The Golden Gap Year certainly didnā€™t arrive as a perfectly formed business ideaā€¦

Itā€™s evolved as Iā€™ve evolvedā€¦

Iā€™ve tried things, run workshops, talked to women, changed my messaging, created guides, built a membership, planned retreats, scrapped ideas, had new ones, changed direction AND Iā€™m still figuring it out šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø ā€¦

But maybe thatā€™s the pointā€¦

Iā€™m not sure I want to wait until I know exactly what Iā€™m doing before I startā€¦

Sometimes you start, then you learn, then you adjustā€¦

And thatā€™s actually how Iā€™m approaching this whole phase of lifeā€¦

Iā€™m curious about what I can create, what I might learn, who I might meet, what might surprise me, what might not work AND where it might take meā€¦

Because reinvention doesnā€™t necessarily mean throwing everything away & becoming someone completely differentā€¦

Sometimes itā€™s simple asking: ā€˜Whatā€™s next for me?!ā€™ & being willing to explore the answerā€¦

SO, yes, Iā€™m building a business in my 60s AND Iā€™m still figuring out whatā€™s possible šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø ā€¦

I think thatā€™s one of the things I love about this next phase of lifeā€¦

There isnā€™t necessarily a script anymoreā€¦

You get to experiment, try things, change your mind, start something, stop something, say yes, say noā€¦

And see what happensā€¦

Thatā€™s my kind of ā€˜golden gap yearā€™ā€¦

A life thatā€™s still being writtenā€¦

Iā€™m in my 60s, building a business, teaching, travelling, trying new thingsā€¦

Iā€™ve got ideas coming out of my earsā€¦

And I still donā€™t have some beautifully mapped out plan for the next 10 years šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø ā€¦

And actually, Iā€™m OK with thatā€¦

Because Iā€™m not sure I do want to knowā€¦

I like the curiosity ofā€¦

āœØ What could I try?
āœØ Who might I meet?
āœØ Where might I go?
āœØ What might I create?

Last weekend, I went to the operaā€¦

A few days later, I did a cheese-making courseā€¦

Neither was particularly life-changing, but thatā€™s not really the pointā€¦

Iā€™ve become increasingly interested in what happens when I say yes to something I havenā€™t done beforeā€¦

Sometimes itā€™s brilliant, sometimes itā€™s just OK, sometimes it introduces you to something you want more of AND sometimes it confirms something you definitely donā€™tā€¦

But every experience gives you informationā€¦

And I think thatā€™s one of the best things about getting olderā€¦

You know yourself better, but you donā€™t stop discovering yourselfā€¦

SO, Iā€™m making a point of keeping some curiosity in my life, trying new things, going places, meeting people, learning, saying yesā€¦

Not because I have a bucket list to complete, but because Iā€™m still curious about whatā€™s possibleā€¦

And Iā€™m wondering, whatā€™s something youā€™ve said YES to lately that you wouldnā€™t normally have done?!

What surprised me wasnā€™t that they all had different answersā€¦

It was how much they valued simply having the space to talk about itā€¦

āœ–ļø no PowerPoint
āœ–ļø no 10-step plan
āœ–ļø no telling them what they should do next

Just good questions, honest conversation & a group of women thinking out loud togetherā€¦

And itā€™s got me thinking - maybe we donā€™t need more advice about what to do nextā€¦

Maybe we need more spaces to work it out together because sometimes when you have the space to pause, talk & listen to other women asking some of the same questions, possibilities start to open upā€¦

And maybe thatā€™s where the next chapter beginsā€¦

One of the things I love about a new week is the little reset it gives usā€¦

So, whatā€™s your TEA fix this week šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø ā€¦

And no, I donā€™t mean a holiday to Tuscany or a safari in Africa (or do I šŸ˜‰) ā€¦

TEA = šŸ—ŗļø Travel šŸŒŸExperiences šŸ§—ā€ā™€ļø Adventure

And TEA can be big or beautifully smallā€¦

This weekend, my TEA fixes wereā€¦

šŸŽ­ going to an opera for the FIRST time
šŸ§€ doing a cheese-making course
ā˜•ļø & of course enjoying some good old-fashioned catch ups along the way

Neither required a passport, neither was life-changingā€¦

But both gave me something to look forward to, something new to try & a story to tellā€¦

Thatā€™s the thing about TEAā€¦

You can sprinkle it through your lifeā€¦

ā˜•ļø weekly - try something new, take a different route, see a movie, have coffee with someone you love
šŸŒ monthly - a day trip, a class, a new experience
āœˆļø quarterly - a bigger adventure, getaway or something youā€™ve been saying ā€˜one dayā€™ to (safari anyone šŸ˜‰) ā€¦

It doesnā€™t have to be hugeā€¦

It just has to be something that makes you think, ā€˜Ooh, Iā€™m looking forward to that!ā€™ā€¦

So she did!!!

And then she went back the next dayā€¦

And the next, and the next, and the nextā€¦

For 103 days straight, she walked the same rock & took a photoā€¦

Same rock - 103 photosā€¦.

When she told me this story, she said it was like someone had flicked a switchā€¦

That one small daily commitment started something she couldnā€™t have predictedā€¦

She began making decisions for herself - on the moment, without overthinking, without waiting for the ā€˜rightā€™ timeā€¦

And slowly, her world started to expandā€¦

Fast forward to today - spontaneous trips, sky diving, zip lining, singing in a cafe, walking through a rain forestā€¦

All from a walk to a rockā€¦

Itā€™s a reminder that sometimes we donā€™t need a huge life overhaulā€¦

We just need one small promise to ourselvesā€¦

One step, one choice, one ā€˜why notā€™ā€¦

Your rock is waitingā€¦

Not your partner, not your kids, not your boss, not even the version of yourself whoā€™s spent the last 20 years doing what needed to be doneā€¦

But hereā€™s what midlife does give you - a chance to stop waiting for itā€¦

The kids may be more independent, the career chapter may be evolving, the people-pleasing is exhaustingā€¦

And somewhere underneath all those roles & responsibilities, thereā€™s a version of you whoā€™s been quietly waiting her turnā€¦

Thatā€™s not a crisis, thatā€™s a callingā€¦

You donā€™t need permission, you donā€™t need a perfect plan - you just need to take the first stepā€¦

Your next chapter isnā€™t about becoming someone new, itā€™s about finally making space for the woman youā€™ve always beenā€¦

Whatā€™s the one thing youā€™d do if you stopped waiting for the green light?!
