Feeling depleted? This time of year when the cold sets in, it’s common to start to feel rundown.
This is when habits creep in that are a result of feeling exhausted but it’s often these habits that create even more dysregulation in the system and consequently worsening of symptoms. This becomes a vicious cycle.
Things that work against us include:
* excessive work
* consuming cold foods constantly
* eating while stressed
* too much sugar/caffeine
* irregular eating
However, TCM foods aimed at addressing stress and exhaustion, by building our energy with warm, steady meals that can better support and work to improve our overall resilience, are worth adding to the weekly meal plan.
Helpful staples to lean on:
* oats
* rice
* sweet potato
* pumpkin
* eggs
* chicken
* slow-cooked beef
* salmon
* bone broth
* lentils
* dates (especially red dates/jujube)
* black beans
* cooked pears
