This is a photo I took this morning. I love that photos of where I live where once pictures on my mental vision board. I get to live in a place I always dreamed of!!
Not only that, but I live where other community members take the time to make gorgeous banners like this one. This is (I assume) courtesy of the local early morning swimming group known as "The Burra Bergs". Your work is definitely loved and appreciated 🩵
Don't forget to stop and appreciate the beauty that is constantly all around you. Flowers blooming, dogs smiling with wagging tails, the perfect coffee, children laughing...it's all part of the art of life.
It's there if you look for it.
Have a great Friday 🥰

Why is it that we think Monday holds some kind of special place for day 1 of a new plan/goal??

I decided to break the mold and made today - Sunday - day 1. I've signed up for another half marathon. It's not for ages, 35 weeks to be exact. But nevertheless I put all the details into my Garmin watch and my training plan started today.

Personally, I always do much better when I have a plan to work with. I love the ticking off of boxes of completed workouts, the feeling of accomplishment when I run a PB or run a long run on days when I would rather not.

What goals are on your list? Have you been putting it off waiting for the perfect time or conditions?

Perhaps a better tactic is to.... JUST START!?

Right now. Go on.

Start.

See you soon 🩵

What is dry needling?

Dry needling is a treatment where a very thin, sterile needle is inserted into specific muscles or other soft tissues to help reduce pain and muscle tension.
The needle is called “dry” because no medication or substance is injected.

What is it used for?
Dry needling is commonly used to help with:
Muscle tightness and trigger points
Muscular pain
Reduced movement or mobility
Some sports and overuse injuries
Pain associated with muscular tension
The needle can stimulate a tight area of muscle, which may help the muscle relax and can reduce pain.

How is it different from acupuncture?
Although both use very fine needles, they are based on different approaches.
Dry needling is generally based on anatomy, muscles, nerves and pain science. The practitioner targets specific muscles or tissues associated with the person's symptoms.
Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, where needles are placed at specific acupuncture points with the aim of influencing the body's flow of qi (energy).

So, while the needles may look very similar, the philosophy, assessment and reasons for choosing particular points are different.

Dry needling is offered at no extra charge at BodyTonic if it is deemed to be something that would be beneficial. It's never used without consultation and agreement with each client.

If this sounds like something that would be helpful to you book in now!

Every time I get a massage I'm amazed at how much extra energy I have for at least a couple of weeks after it.

All that energy that my body WAS using holding tension and tightness in my body is now available for other activities!

It makes ALL other tasks so much easier when your body feels able to move freely and with less niggles and pain.

You don't always have to live in pain, maybe I can help!?

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME!

I've been lucky enough to work as a soigneur for a fabulous local company Bike Odyssey | Exceptional Cycling Adventures. It was certainly an adventure that I will remember forever.

🚴‍♀️ What does it mean to be a Soigneur?
One of the most memorable experiences in my career as a remedial massage therapist was working as a soigneur for Bike Odyssey in Croatia.
But what exactly is a soigneur?
In French, soigneur literally means “one who cares for” or “caregiver.” ❤️
Within a cycling team, a soigneur is a member of the support crew responsible for looking after the riders’ wellbeing — both on and off the bike.
That can mean massage and recovery work, helping with nutrition and hydration, preparing riders for the next stage, and making sure they are physically and mentally ready to perform.
For me, it was an incredible opportunity to see just how important recovery is when the body is being pushed day after day.
Working with the riders in Croatia gave me a completely different perspective on fatigue, muscle recovery, injury management and performance — and reinforced why I love what I do today.
There’s something pretty special about being part of the team behind the scenes, helping athletes keep moving when their bodies are asking for a break. 🚴‍♂️💆‍♀️
From the roads of Croatia to my treatment room today — the goal remains the same: helping people move, recover and perform at their best.

What am I asking myself when I assess a client? 🤔
When you come in with pain, tightness or restricted movement, I'm not just thinking about where it hurts.
I'm asking myself:
🔎 What could be contributing to this problem?
Is it muscular tension, overload, reduced mobility, movement patterns—or something that may need further assessment?
🧩 What is the body telling me?
How does the area feel? What movements reproduce the symptoms? Is the discomfort coming from the area itself, or could another structure be contributing?
🎯 What does this client actually need today?
Not every client needs the same treatment. Sometimes the goal is reducing muscular tension, sometimes improving movement, and sometimes simply helping the body recover.
⚖️ What treatment is appropriate—and what should I avoid?
I consider the presentation, irritability and response to assessment before deciding how much pressure, which techniques and what areas to work on.
📈 How will I know if we're making progress?
I reassess throughout the session rather than simply assuming that because something feels tight, it needs more pressure.
For me, a good treatment isn't about using the most aggressive technique.
It's about working out what your body needs and choosing the most appropriate approach. 💆‍♀️
Every client is different—and that's why assessment matters.

I hope to see you soon!

😮‍💨I used to think that the top circle was a proper measure of success and I chased that for awhile. All it did was leave me stressed, overweight, anxious and unhappy.

🤗Now I do a job I love, work with clients that inspire me, have a great balance between my work and personal time to pursue my own interests and health and my mental health has never been better.

😁I'm proud of the success I've made of myself!
