Clenching/bruxism is one of the main drivers of jaw (TMJ) issues. What most people are unaware of, is if your teeth are touching at rest, that is still mild clenching (the muscles are working causing more compression through your TMJ).

We want the jaw muscles to be relaxed at rest which means the teeth aren't touching, and ideally the tongue is relaxed with tip of tongue on the roof of your mouth

For more information on physiotherapy for TMJ or to book online see our website; https://hnjclinic.com.au/tmj-jaw/

Congratulations to our physiotherapists Harris Johnston for completing his Watson Level 3 Certification Course, and to Yuval Almog for completing his Watson Level 4 Clinical Facilitator Course in August. We also had both Trina and Scott help facilitate the course with Dean Watson.

All of our physiotherapists are trained in the Watson Headache Approach for assessing and treating headaches and migraines. We are always proud of our physiotherapists for continuing to grow and learn to be able to provide the best care for our patients. Well done team HNJ 🥳

The majority of people will recover after a concussion within 1-2 weeks. However, 15-30% of people will develop post-concussion syndrome (PCS), also known as persistent post-concussion symptoms. This occurs when typical concussion symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and trouble concentrating go on for weeks or months post the initial concussion.

In this phase physiotherapy can be essential in your post concussion rehabilitation. For more information on physiotherapy for concussion injuries, see our website: https://hnjclinic.com.au/concussion/

We all recently celebrated a mid year party, Wild Wild West theme of course. We rarely get the whole team together so it was a great night to celebrate.

We can confirm no injuries were sustained from the mechanical bull 😂🤠🐮

Sometimes it can be hard to know if a tooth ache is referral from the TMJ, or a problem with the tooth itself. In most cases, clients are referred to us from the dentist and the tooth has been cleared. The TMJ can refer as tooth pain, but often without the sensitivity to hot/cold. Clenching/bruxism can cause a tooth ache to due the pressure on the joint as well as the teeth.

If the tooth ache is due to the TMJ, physiotherapy will likely help you. For more information on TMJ treatment see our website; https://hnjclinic.com.au/tmj-jaw/
