🏀 Wheelchair Basketball in Orange!

We had the pleasure of meeting some of the team from the Orange City Rollers at the recent Disability Expo and loved hearing more about the inclusive wheelchair basketball sessions they run in Orange.

And an important thing we learnt — you don’t need to be a wheelchair user to join in! 🙌

Sports wheelchairs are available to use, so whether you use a wheelchair every day or have never tried wheelchair basketball before, you can come along and give it a go.

Whether you’re interested in playing, trying something new, meeting people or simply coming along to support, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in inclusive sport and connect with the local community.

Their current exhibitions, ‘HONK’ and ‘Untamed’, are an absolute hit. Samantha and Kristy had the best time playing HONK and testing their skills with the interactive I-Spy! 🧩👁️

R U OK? Day might be over for another year.

The conversations shouldn't be. 💛

People don't only struggle on awareness days. Sometimes the moment someone needs us to notice will be an ordinary Monday, during a support shift, over a cup of coffee, at work, at home or sitting beside someone who seems a little quieter than usual.

Keep noticing.

Keep checking in.

Keep listening.

The warmer weather is officially here, and we are making the absolute most of it with slides and splashes at the pool. Grateful for these sunny days and the beautiful memories we're making! ☀️💧

Asking “Are you OK?” is the beginning of the conversation — not the end of it.

R U OK? recommends four simple steps:

💛 1. Ask R U OK?
Start the conversation and mention what you've noticed.

👂 2. Listen
Give them time to talk and listen without judgement.

➡️ 3. Encourage action
If they've been struggling for some time, encourage them to connect with someone who can provide additional support.

🔄 4. Check in
Don't let the conversation end there. Follow up and see how they're going.

You don't need to be an expert to have a meaningful conversation. You just need to care enough to start one.
