MADHYA — Returning to Centre
In yogic philosophy,
Madhya means the centre.
Not just the centre of the body,
but the centre of our experience.
The place between effort & ease.
Between doing & being.
Between inhaling & exhaling.
This month, we explore Madhya through our asana practice.
By discovering the centre from which movement can emerge with ease.
In the body, this centre is often reflected through the relationship between:
• the diaphragm above
• the pelvic floor below
• the abdominal wall around us
• & the spine behind us
When these systems work together, we begin to experience what yoga calls sthira sukham:
-Stable, yet easeful.
-Strong, yet adaptable.
Rather than searching for more effort,
creating more tension, or doing more exercises to activate your core & glutes,
the invitation is to find Madhya.
the place where support arises naturally.
Where support is no longer something you force,
but something you organise.
Throughout Integr8, we explore how breathing mechanics can help create the conditions for better pressure management, more adaptable core support, improved balance & more efficient movement.
