Another blossoming discharge ✨
With this discharge, I want to tell a story from the perspective of me (Meg), a Private Midwife.
This image was a picture of the moon just 15 minutes before I received a phone call from the woman stating she was in labour. I remember sitting outside, looking at the moon and gentle golden sunset.
I had spent the afternoon with this woman; a long antenatal appointment talking about the emotions that come with being pregnant after your due date (and not knowing when labour would arrive). She'd had babies before and she was familiar with this waiting period. I sat and listened. I trusted her baby to labour in their perfect timing. We monitored and assessed the woman and her baby. All was well, and so we decided to wait.
And just a few hours later I was back at her home with by my side, as she joyfully laughed her way through labour to welcome her baby just after midnight, safely at home.
As a Private Midwife, I support physiological birth. Midwifery care with a known midwife has been proven over and over to improve birth outcomes and birth experiences for women and their babies.
