My name is Kylie Gregory, and I am an Occupational Therapist with 20+ years experience in working with individuals and families. Early in my career I worked with adults with serious mental illnesses in both inpatient facilities and community outreach services. After my children were born, my career moved to supporting families with young children in parenting services in Sydney. A move to Orange a

llowed me to practice in both the mental health field as an OT, and in the education sector, this time wearing my musician hat. I loved being part of a vibrant team of educators that worked alongside school symphonic band programs across Orange, in both the DET and independent schools.

Huge thanks to everyone that made the inaugural Holiday Adventure Club possible! We jumped, swam, jumped, movied and jumped some more for the two weeks! And bubbles, of course 🫧Thank you parents and kids, and our fabulous support workers. Gratitude to The Different Society, Orange Christian School, Central West Gymnastics, Blayney Pool, Odeon 5 cinemas, and Inflatable World/Orange Indoor Tennis Centre.

Well that’s a wrap on holiday intensives January2025! So many amazing moments as we worked towards goals big and small. A session each day for a week offered many opportunities to revisit and try again. Congratulations to all kids involved, and huge thanks to parents, siblings, aunties and uncles, grandpas and grandmas that supported with transport, and who jumped in to play games! We tied lots of shoelaces, went to the shops for ice cream (and left without the Kinder Surprise 👍), ticked items off a shopping list, did lots of new balance exercises, LOTS of Astro rotations, practised writing letters, climbed in the rainbow, and played peek-a-boo for the very first time!

The holiday season can be overwhelming for children on the spectrum, but just like everyone else, they cherish the thoughtful presents and moments shared. Let’s make this season one of understanding, patience, and kindness.

Every person on the spectrum deserves to feel heard, valued, and embraced. Their world may look different from ours, but with a little gentleness, we can create a space where everyone feels the true joy of Christmas. ❤️
