Some conversations are better had in private. 🤫

That’s why we specifically designed **three private clinic rooms** into our new premises - for your comfort, privacy and peace of mind.

If you’d like to speak privately with one of our pharmacists 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️, simply ask at either counter - **no explanation needed**. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Pharmacist Alex (A1) 👨‍⚕️💊 is currently in Brisbane ✈️ undergoing clinical placement with Dr. Anchita Karmakar in her multidisciplinary GP clinic.

It is refreshing to be surrounded by inspiring and inspired clinicians, and learn from each other. 💡

The placement has developed also a newfound respect 🫡 😲 for the incredible work of our primary care GPs and NPs who see the massive array of life 💜 and the complications/struggles/journeys that arise from it. 😔🥺 A job that requires such skill, knowledge and compassion.

A1 also completed clinical placement locally with NP Di Thornton from Mallee Border Health Centre 🩺.

Clinical placement🤓 is a part of our Pharmacist Prescribing studies with Monash University📚. It has been so refreshing and a valuable experience. Empowering us as pharmacists to better understanding the roles of our colleagues, while brainstorming 🧠 ways in which we can better collaborate clinically for the benefit of our mutual patients🫶.

Pharmacist prescribers are never wanting to replace the role of a GP or NP…Our goal is to complement care and provide better triage and improve health access for those who wouldn’t ordinary access services. Something that is so important in our rural/remote isolated town 🌾🐑 It’s all about teamwork ! 🤝

In the end, knowledge is power ✊, right?

A1 and A2 are on track to graduate 👨‍🎓 👩‍🎓by October. More services to follow in the pharmacy 👏 Keep an eye on this space! 👀

🌅 👣Apparently knowing what’s good for you and actually doing it are two different things. Rude. 😂

Pharmacist Alex (A1) 💊 is on a bit of a health journey himself🥸. Work, study, renovations, moving house, family coming ends… somehow self-care doesn’t always make it to the top of the list. 😓😓🫣🫣🫠

But better health doesn’t have to mean changing everything overnight. Each day is filled with countless opportunities to make a small change, that eventually add up! 💡

🚶‍♂️ Go for a walk, even if it is short (short is better than none!)
🍎 Choose the fruit… sometimes 😂
😴 Get to bed at a regular time
💨 Actually use your CPAP if you have sleep apnoea 💤
💊 Take your medicines regularly

This morning A1 and Happy hit the streets of Ouyen on his morning walk, and conveniently bumped into his MTHCS dietitian 🍏😅😂, after recently discussing the goal of walking more! 🤗

Nothing like some unexpected accountability! 🫶👏🥰 (chance encounter was not planned at all… we swear!!!🤣)

😲👏We were able to raise $790.00 for the very deserving Ouyen P-12 College Breakfast Club !!!! 🍳☕️

Breakfast Club helps fuel growing and learning minds. This is something we can absolutely get behind!

👏 🙏Thank you to everyone who supported Ouyen Pharmacy and Ouyen-P12 Breakfast Club by getting their flu vaccine with us this season ☺️.

Today Pharmacist A2 made the trip out to Murrayville 📍 to spend some time under the wing of experienced Nurse Practitioner Di Thornton from Mallee Border Health Centre

We’re incredibly grateful for our collaboration with Di. In rural healthcare 🌾🐑🚜, working together matters🤝… whether that’s cross-referring patients, sharing knowledge or simply helping people get the right care, from the right person, sooner. 💜

As part of our ongoing pharmacist prescribing studies📚, A2 💊👩‍⚕️ spent the day observing Di’s clinical consultation process🧑🏼‍⚕️ and learning more about the assessment and management of minor ailments.

A little more knowledge coming back down the road to Ouyen! 🫡💊

Jokes aside, one thing the map did get right is that our pharmacists 💊 have come from far and wide to somehow end up in the centre of the universe 🌍… Ouyen. 😉

Grew up and studied 📚pharmacy in Brisbane, then gallivanted his way around the countryside - his first pharmacist job was in Broken Hill (NSW), followed by Mackay QLD, Mandurah (WA), Mildura (VIC) and eventually… Ouyen.🙌

👩‍⚕️Pharmacist A2
An Aussie who spent time living in California 🇺🇸, before returning home to study pharmacy in Townsville QLD. She then worked as a pharmacist in Casino NSW before being lured to the Neon lights of Ouyen (The Taste Lab Ouyen - Street Kitchen & Eatery lights are pretty bright 😉🤩).

Packed up and moved from Sydney to Ouyen - a completely natural career progression. 😂
Ang also speaks Thai 🇹🇭, which, perhaps surprisingly, has actually come in handy here!

We joke about where we’ve all come from, but having a team with different backgrounds, life experiences, ages, genders, perspectives is something we’re genuinely proud of. … diversity !🥹

It helps us relate to different people,👂 understand different perspectives💡 and ultimately provide better care💜 to the wonderfully diverse range of patients who walk through our doors.
