Hey neurodiverse tribe! Let’s talk about a feeling that’s been going around a lot lately. It seems like everywhere you look these days, someone is talking about getting a diagnosis. But at the end of the day, a label doesn't change who you are. You already intuitively and logically know what works for you and what doesn’t.
For many of us—especially those with ADHD—there is a constant, exhausting tug-of-war. We desperately need structure to function, but at the very same time, we rebel against it because no one likes being told what to do!

Case Study Wednesday: The Connected Body 🧠💥

Ever wonder why a headache 🤕 can actually stem from your pelvis? Let’s talk about a recent client that perfectly highlights why a full-body approach is vital for recovery! 🛠️

The Case 📋
A hard-working tradie came in struggling with persistent left-sided headaches and neck pain 🏗️. His job demands heavy lifting and constant leaning over all day 🏋️‍♂️, putting his body under intense stress.

The Real Cause 🕵️‍♂️
While his head was leaning and his shoulder was riding high 📈, his neck wasn't the root issue.
Due to heavy work commitments and past injuries, he had a strain/sprain on one side of his body 📉. This caused his entire torso to twist, throwing his pelvis and spine completely out of alignment! 🔄

The Results 💥
We focused on the whole chain reaction, adjusting his pelvis, shoulder blade area, and neck 🧘‍♂️.

It’s not about doing MORE exercises. It’s about doing the RIGHT ones. 🎯

Over the weekend, I was helping out a family member who was dealing with some physical discomfort.

They suggested jumping straight into standard specific fitness routines—but here’s the thing: your body doesn’t always need a long checklist of generic movements.
What it actually needs is a core solution. 🔑
We focused on finding the exact foundational exercises their body responded to, alongside a couple of targeted stretches. Within just 4 days, they were walking around the house with better lifting capability and feeling so much better overall!

If you are looking to relieve tension or improve mobility, try starting with these three simple targets:

The 'W' Exercise: Great for upper back and posture, especially when done on a foam roller. 🪵

Quad Stretches: Elevate your foot on a chair or bench, and gently drop your knee down. 🪑

Hamstring Releases: Prop your foot up, lean forward, and let your foot relax to relieve pressure on the hamstring and hip (especially helpful if it’s nerve-related!). 🧘‍♂️

The Big Takeaway:
Stop overwhelming your body with dozens of exercises.

🚶‍♂️ The Strategy: Side-by-Side Talking

When a child (or anyone!) is overwhelmed, trying to force a face-to-face debrief can feel like an interrogation. Instead, try side-by-side talking.

Deload the system: Remove the pressure of direct eye contact and intense questioning.

Shift the focus: Do an activity together—like walking the dog, driving in the car, or washing the dishes.
Observe instead of probe: Sit back, watch, and give them space to breathe instead of trying to fix it immediately.

🚪 Keep the Door Open
When kids are regulated and settled, they will naturally move toward you to share what's on their mind. Your main job is simply to keep that door open and be ready to listen when they are ready to talk.
