"I'll sort it out when it gets really bad."

Honestly? We hear this one all the time. πŸ˜…

It usually shows up alongside "it's probably nothing," "it'll go away on its own," or our personal favourite – "I've been meaning to come in for months."

Here's the thing: by the time something gets *really* bad, it's often taken a lot longer to fix. That niggly back that's been there since winter started, the stiff neck you're putting down to sleeping funny, the hip that clicks when you get out of the car... these things tend to build, not disappear.

We're not here to judge the timeline. We get it – life is busy and a bit of pain feels manageable, until it's not.

But if you've been putting it off, this is your sign. Pop us a message or book online – it doesn't take long to get a sense of what's going on.

Hey mamas πŸ’™

Pregnant bodies work hard in every season, but there is something about Brisbane's cooler months that adds a whole new layer.

When the temperature drops, muscles and ligaments naturally tighten up a little. For a body that's already carrying extra load, shifting its centre of gravity, and dealing with the effects of relaxin loosening everything up, that extra stiffness can really land. Round ligament aches, pelvic pressure, low back heaviness, and hips that feel stiff first thing in the morning are all really common in winter pregnancies.

It's also the season where movement quietly drops off. Cold mornings make the couch feel like a very good option, but less movement usually means tighter hips and a pelvis that isn't getting the gentle daily mobilisation it needs.

If you're pregnant right now and noticing more pelvic pressure, achy hips, or low back stiffness than usual, it's worth getting it assessed rather than waiting it out. Pregnancy-related discomfort is very responsive to care, and earlier is always better.

We have morning and afternoon appointments available throughout the week, including a Saturday morning clinic if that suits your schedule better.

Fun fact about your spine πŸ‘†

Those chunky bones in the photo? They're your lumbar vertebrae, and they carry most of the load when you sit. Every time you park yourself on the couch for a few hours, the pressure on those discs actually increases compared to standing.

Here's the thing: sitting isn't the villain. But long, unbroken stretches of it can quietly tighten your hip flexors, load up your lower back, and wind up the muscles through your neck and shoulders. The longer you sit, the stiffer you feel when you finally stand up.

The fix is simpler than you think. A short walk between Netflix episodes, standing in the kitchen while the kettle boils, even a gentle stretch on the floor. Movement doesn't have to be a workout to make a real difference.

If things have been feeling a bit stiff or niggly lately, come in and let us have a look.

Hey mamas (and really, any woman reading this) πŸ’™

Tomorrow is World Menstrual Health Day, which feels like the right moment to talk about something that doesn't get nearly enough airtime: your pelvic floor.

Most of us don't think about our pelvic floor until something goes wrong. A little leakage when you sneeze. Heaviness or pressure that just feels... off. Discomfort that you've quietly decided is "normal" since having kids.

Here's the thing: those symptoms are common, but they're not something you just have to live with.

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles and connective tissue that does a big job. It supports your bladder, bowel, and uterus. It's under enormous demand during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. And when it's not working well, it can affect everything from your core strength to how you move through your day.

Chiropractic care can play a really helpful supporting role: assessing how your pelvis is moving, identifying any tension or restriction that might be affecting pelvic floor function, and working alongside your GP or pelvic physio to help you feel more like yourself again.

If you've been putting up with symptoms you've written off as "just part of being a mum," come in for a chat. You don't have to just get on with it.

Morning and afternoon appointments available. Book online at chiropracticmoves.com.au or call 0404 717 488.

Is your teenager coming home from footy training with a sore knee? Complaining about a stiff neck after hours of study? Growing fast and feeling it?

We see a lot of teenagers in clinic β€” and there's often something quite specific going on that's worth understanding rather than just waiting out. πŸ‰

Growth spurts put real load on the musculoskeletal system. Add sport, school bags, and hours at a desk and you've got a recipe for the kinds of aches that can sideline a young person if they're left unmanaged.

Our latest blog is up: "What Your Teenager's Body Is Trying to Tell You" β€” it's a guide for parents (and teens) on what to look out for, from growth-related knee pain and rugby injuries to screen posture and school bag load.

Read it at chiropracticmoves.com.au πŸ“–

If you've got a young person at home who's been pushing through some pain, it's worth a check. Book online or give us a call on 0404 717 488.

Four weeks into winter and your body is already noticing it. πŸ‚

When the mornings get cold, movement is usually the first thing to go. Morning walks get shorter. Lunchbreaks stay at the desk. The afternoon stretch gets skipped. It makes sense β€” it's dark earlier, the couch is warmer, and the day feels shorter.

But for anyone who spends most of their day sitting, this seasonal slow-down compounds what's already happening. Prolonged sitting increases the compressive load on the lumbar discs, gradually switches off the deep stabilisers that support your spine, and tightens the hip flexors and upper traps that work overtime to compensate.

The result? A slow build of stiffness and low-grade ache that's easy to dismiss as just "how I feel now."

Here's the practical bit: you don't need a full workout. You need movement breaks. Three to five minutes every hour β€” a short walk, a few hip hinges, some shoulder rolls β€” is enough to interrupt the load pattern and keep your tissues responsive.

If the stiffness has already taken hold, that's a good sign your body would benefit from an assessment. We can often identify exactly which structures are being overloaded and give you specific strategies to address it β€” more targeted than rest alone.

Mid-winter is one of the busiest times we see this in clinic. Don't wait until it becomes a proper injury.

Hey mamas πŸ’™

Our latest blog is up, and this one is for every woman navigating life after baby.

"How to Actually Recover After Birth: What the Fourth Trimester Doesn't Tell You" is written by Dr Amanda, who has been in the trenches of new motherhood herself and sees postnatal mums in clinic every week.

The fourth trimester is that raw, beautiful, exhausting stretch from birth to about three months postpartum. Your body has just done something extraordinary, and yet so much of the focus shifts to baby almost immediately. Your recovery often gets quietly left behind.

In the blog, Amanda covers the things nobody quite prepares you for: the pelvis that feels unsettled, the upper back ache from feeding and carrying, the core that doesn't feel like yours anymore, and how to know when (and how) to safely start moving again.

It's the honest, practical guide she wishes every postpartum mama received on the way out of hospital.

Head to the link in our bio to read it, or search "Chiropractic Moves fourth trimester" πŸ”
