If a deep ache or a hot, electric line is running from your back or buttock down the leg, we know how wearing that can be. 💙
Sciatica and nerve-related leg pain happen when a nerve travelling down the leg gets irritated, often by tension in the surrounding muscles and joints that refer pain along its path. It can be sharp, dull or tingling, and it has a knack for turning up at the worst moments.
Here is the reassuring part: for most people this settles, especially with the right support. We can assess what is stirring the nerve, ease the tension around it and give you a clear plan to move forward.
If that leg pain sounds familiar, book in with our team at Pakenham Osteopathy on 5941-4157 and let us take a proper look, or book online:https://www.pakenhamosteopathy.com.au/book-online/

Word of the month: thoracic spine.

The name comes from the Greek thorax, meaning breastplate or chest, which is fitting, because these twelve mid-back vertebrae each anchor a pair of ribs and quite literally build the wall around your heart and lungs.

Here is the part people miss: this region loves to go stiff, and because your neck and shoulders sit right on top of it, that stiffness often shows up as neck ache or grumpy shoulders rather than mid-back pain. Sort out the foundation and the floors above tend to feel better too.

Save this one for the next time your neck plays up and you cannot work out why.

Today is World Mental Health Day! This year’s theme is Together We Thrive.

This is an important moment to raise awareness of mental health, reduce stigma and encourage people to seek support when they need it.

It’s also an opportunity to pause, check in with ourselves and those around us, and reflect on how we can look after our own mental health and wellbeing.

Whether at home, at work, at school, in the community or online, this Mental Health Month we're encouraging everyone to start conversations, share their stories and strengthen the connections that help us thrive.

🚴 Did you know that just 30 mins of moderate cycling in the evening helped protect long-term memory in young adults who were sleep restricted?

A 2026 study in Sleep found that exercise may provide a buffer against some of the memory-related effects of sleep restriction. So if you're sleep deprived during an exam period, jump on your bike 🚴 for a cycle the night before!
