Anxiety does not begin with panic.

It often starts with a simple worry.

Then the mind tries to stay safe by avoiding, overthinking, checking, seeking reassurance, or preparing for every possible outcome.

The cruel part is that these "solutions" often make anxiety stronger. What feels helpful in the moment can keep the cycle going.

Many people spend years blaming themselves for being anxious, when in reality they are caught in a pattern that thousands of others are living through every day.

Understanding the cycle is often the first step towards breaking it.

For many people with ADHD, rejection doesn’t just sting; it overwhelms. A passing comment, a shift in tone, or a feeling of being left out can trigger an intense emotional reaction that is rapid, physical, and almost impossible to control. This is often referred to as rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD), which is not a clinical diagnosis but a common phenomenon experienced by people with ADHD.

In this webinar with leading UK psychiatrist, educator, and author Dr. James Kustow, you will learn:

- Why RSD is part of the emotional dysregulation of ADHD

- What is happening in the brains and bodies of people with ADHD to make rejection sensitivity feels so intense

- How rejection sensitivity can shape behavior patterns such as self-abandonment, avoidance, and perfectionism

- What to do in the moment when you feel triggered and overwhelmed

- Practical ways to build emotional resilience and raise your threshold for triggers over time

- The role of therapy, lifestyle, and medication in managing rejection sensitivity

- What partners, family members, and colleagues can do to respond helpfully (and what to avoid)

Having Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder isn’t about being lazy, careless, or “not trying hard enough.”
An ADHD brain works differently — especially in the areas that control attention, motivation, emotions, memory, and impulse control.

A simple way to explain it is this:

Most people’s brains are like a car with a reliable automatic transmission.
An ADHD brain is like a race car with unpredictable brakes.

Sometimes it can hyperfocus for hours on something interesting.
Other times, even simple tasks feel impossible to start — not because the person doesn’t care, but because the brain struggles to regulate attention and motivation.

People with ADHD often:

* Hear everything at once and struggle to filter noise
* Forget things even when they’re important
* Feel emotions more intensely
* Get overwhelmed easily
* Struggle to switch tasks
* Need urgency or interest to activate focus
* Seem inconsistent because their brain runs on stimulation, not importance

The hardest part is that many ADHD struggles are invisible.
Someone with ADHD may look fine while internally fighting:

* mental overload
* racing thoughts
* time blindness
* exhaustion from masking
* constant self-criticism from years of being misunderstood

An ADHD brain is not broken.
It’s a differently wired brain that can be creative, intuitive, passionate, funny, innovative, and deeply empathetic — but it often needs different tools and support to function at its best.
