"Through this journey, I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to achieve. I’ve secured not just one, but two jobs in research, which is something I’m very passionate about.

"Overall, my journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been one of growth, learning and achievement. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received and excited about what’s ahead."

27 May to 3 June is National Reconciliation Week (NRW), a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, while exploring how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is 'All In', a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

Reconciliation and advancing First Nations peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the burden of advocating, educating and leading reconciliation efforts for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, which is why Northcott is committed to continue building on more than 10 years of reconciliation work. We acknowledge that reconciliation requires ongoing listening, learning, reflection and action.

Northcott’s vision for Reconciliation is to be an inclusive organisation, growing support and connection where everyone thrives. We are committed to collaborating with First Nations peoples in supporting wellbeing, opportunity, self-determination and strong community outcomes.

Northcott strives to work in a manner that enables First Nations peoples to achieve their goals and aspirations. We recognise that people with disability want to remain connected to their communities and the broader society and we are committed to supporting them.

We will continue to strive to create culturally safe workplaces where First Nations colleagues feel respected, supported and empowered.

Today is National Sorry Day.

Every year on 26 May, we remember and acknowledge the mistreatment of First Nations peoples who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, The Stolen Generations.

National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge ongoing impacts and our collective responsibility through healing, truth-telling and reconciliation.

We recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking together toward a more inclusive future. This year we officially launched Northcott’s third Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which is an important milestone in our reconciliation journey.

Through listening, accountability, and ongoing learning from First Nations voices and lived experience, we have built on more than 10 years of reconciliation work in our current Stretch RAP.

National Sorry Day is not only a day of remembrance, but also a time for reflection, truth-telling and commitment to meaningful action.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come and will continue the work ahead as we walk this path together.
