As most of you may be aware, we will be taking a 5 week break just before our peak season starts, just so we can continue to provide our services without any hickups. During the break period, best way to contact us will be through e-mail or social media. Unfortunately phone calls & SMS will be tricky to respond to since our lokktician Mehmet will be traveling to overseas. Unfortunately we are absolutely booked to the brim up until the break day, I'd like to apologise if we couldn't book you in before the break but please feel free to contact us for any questions or enquiries.

Closing dates are from the 22nd of August, Tuesday up until the 25th of September, Wednesday. We will re-open the shop from the 26th of September, Tuesday.

Our online store will continue to operate for your needs incase you are running low on products, so we got you covered for that.

Until then, stay safe.

Blessings,
Mehmet

Hello Dreadlock Owners & Admirers!
We’re very excited to share some news! As you may be aware, we have been planning to move our shop from Pascoe Vale to Preston! We have been sucessful in finding a new location that is also near a tram stop, as well as some fantastic shops, cafes, restaurant and etc just 5 minutes drive from the new location.

Due to housing and rental market crisis we will be moving into a temporary house setup until we can find a suitable shop in near future. Our salon operations will be resumed at its usual professionalism with the relaxed vibe to make you feel at home.

When is the move you ask?
Date - 4th of May, Thursday
Location - 71 Robeson St, Preston

Please don't hesitate to contact us for any question or enquiries.
Blessings,

Methods :

Ok let’s talk…

We promote the - it is not as instant as crochet method however, the crochet method, does not make natural lokks .

When installing lokks, the crochet method relies on very harsh backcombing, which means the hair immediately becomes too compacted to expand. Secondly, the crochet method relies on very harsh stabbing and repeated backcombing, to achieve its “instant look”. This can be an extremely painful process and results in loss of length as a consequence of the “instant look”.

Crochet creates a very compacted lokk, that is nearly impossible to wash & dry through, has taken most of your clients length, and has put both yourself and your client, through a great deal of trauma.

Many, many lokkticians are turning to the SystaSystem or weaving crochet method to help with the above issues. But probably the most important for YOU, the technician, is OH&S..

I have seen so many stab injuries that can require surgery to remove. When you are stabbing a dread, it is not a natural process, it is actually a very aggressive process, that has little or no control, meaning injuries are very prevalent. Again a trauma for both you and your client.

The SistaSystem, uses a hook, to gently weave. It is an age old art, that is gentle and encourages us to remember, lokks are a journey, which begins with your client and YOU. Making sure your client has a beautiful experience, both in the chair and over the months it will take to mature the lokks, is a very special and beautiful space.

Weaving allows your Lokk to

1 expand naturally
2 wash & dry through
3 keep all your length
4 no pain broken or loss of hair.

Let’s remember, we are creating spells, that take time and collaboration between you and your client.

PEACE ✌️

Brushing out lokks

Firstly you need to address the way the lokks were installed.

If it was harsh backcombing and you lost more then half your length. You might want to consider cutting the bulky backcombed ends, off, as this is broken hair and you will save very little of it, if at all .

If it is interlocking, you will not be able to comb out your whole length, you will need to find the last knot you put through the base, and comb out from that point.

If it was naturally formed with little to no backcombing, you will be able to comb out .

If it is the SistaSystem you will be able to comb out completely.

So first
NO COMB - no control
NO WATER - weakens follicle
NO CONDITIONER - contains water

You will need
Buildup dissolver -
1 part lemon eucalyptus
1 part lavender
1 part witch hazel
Pop into a spray bottle to use whilst combing out.

These essentials oils are astringent and will help breakdown oils and skin inside the Lokk .

A viscous oil to help with the removal :
H**p
Jojoba
Sesame
Or any oil you have on hand. We use oil as it doesn’t contain water and therefore the follicle is not compromised .

Tools : hook ONLY
Time
This process is lengthy if you want to save your hair. Remember how long you have had them and how many times you have, rolled or hooked or processed. This all needs to be undone.

Start by hooking out the end to about 15cm which should be quite easy. Use the hook like a comb, pulling lightly. You may need to apply the dissolver into centre of Lokk and continue pulling very lightly, on the follicle. You can turn the Lokk as you go, to find the hair that will dislodge. If you start to find it difficult, pop a few drops of oil into centre of Lokk.

This process will take many hours, this is the process if you want to keep your hair. It takes myself and a staff member, upto 14 hours to remove 5 year old lokks using SustaSystem. If the client had used a different method, it is 2 to 3 days.
