Tomorrow we are hosting our Biggest Morning tea at Pearce, in support of the Cancer Council.
We hope to see you at the Pearce Community Centre between 10am and 11:30am on Tuesday, 16 June.
We will have a variety of food options for $5 and coffee, tea and juice for $2, so don't forget your cash!

May is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Sharing Places' managers and team leaders will be taking part in a training program presented by WWILD SVP-Assn. inc. on recognising and responding to domestic, family and sexual violence.

This training has been developed alongside people who have a disability and workers from both the disability and domestic, family and sexual violence sectors in the ACT.

Sharing Places have recently enjoyed our fifth boat cruise with Canberra Party Boats, who have been very generous in their support of Sharing Places and have provided cruises for our teams at very heavily discounted costs. We are very grateful for their ongoing support.

💭🏠 The Imagining Home conference

Our upcoming conference is a two-day exploration of typical and ordinary options for creating a home that is unique to each individual with disability.

Our speakers will demonstrate that the nature of a person’s impairment doesn’t prevent them from living in their own place, and that there are clever ways support can be put in place to ensure every person with disability is well supported to thrive.

Who should attend?
People with disability, their families, friends, allies, and the professionals who support them.

Sharing Places has been out and about doing their bit for Epilepsy awareness. Both the Holt and Pearce teams have been manning the Epilepsy booths at shopping centres this week.
We also encouraged staff and participants to wear purple in recognition of Make March Purple for Epilepsy, on March 26.

Our annual Dickson pool day was a resounding success. With warm weather, abundant shade, and a BBQ, more participants than ever were able to enjoy the aquatic areas this year. We would like to extend a special thank you to Australia, their generous sponsorship was vital in bringing our community together for such a great event."

The Dickson Pool Day is scheduled to go ahead this Friday, 30 January 2026. As you may be aware, the temperature for the day will be in the mid to high 30s, and this could present some health risks to some participants and staff. We have decided to go ahead with the pool day and will take appropriate heat-related risk mitigation strategies. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
