One week to go to the Ability Support Care Tasmania’s Sparks Mixed Touch Football team take the field.

Some of our participants and staff are donning in the gear along with some family members and friends filling the team, we were a bit excited yesterday when our uniforms turend up .

So have the defibrillator and crutches on standby as the boss man is going to have a run

And we have to mention our head cheerleader/manageress Sparkles in pink

🏉🔥 OKAY… WE’RE HAVING A BOAST — AND WE’RE NOT EVEN SORRY! 🔥🏉

Game 4 of the Devonport Touch Football Winter Roster was played last night, and two of our boys, Tyrese and Connor, certainly gave us something to brag about! 💙🙌

First up… TYRESE! 🔥
Apparently one try wasn’t enough… neither was two…

👉 THREE TRIES!! 🏉🏉🏉

Yep — the bloke was on FIRE! 🔥😂
Awesome work, Tyrese!

Then there’s CONNOR, who has only been playing touch footy for around FOUR WEEKS.

And guess what?!

🎉🏉 HE GOT HIS FIRST TRY!! 🏉🎉

The smile may have said it all… but Connor wasn’t finished yet!

Towards the end of the game, an opposition player broke away and looked like they were heading straight for the try line.

Connor took off. 🏃‍♂️💨

And we mean TOOK OFF!

A massive FULL-FIELD SPRINT, giving absolutely everything he had, followed by an absolute CRACKER OF A DIVE to make the touch and stop what looked like a certain try! 😲👏🔥

That’s determination.
That’s effort.
And THAT’S having a red-hot crack! 💪💙

WHAT AN EFFORT FROM BOTH OF YOU, GUYS!

But we also need to give a huge shout-out to the Devonport Touch Association. 👏🏉

The welcome and inclusion they have shown our guys has been absolutely fantastic. More importantly, the whole Winter Roster has been run with such a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

Our guys aren't just turning up to play a game — they’re being welcomed as part of the team and part of the touch footy community.

And that means a lot. ❤️

Community sport at its absolute best! 👏

Now… there is just one small problem following Connor’s heroic full-field sprint and spectacular diving touch…

💙🎉 Today We Celebrate One Incredible Year 🎉💙

Today marks 12 months since we officially opened the Jie Michael Blight Hub, proudly named in honour of the late Jie Michael Blight
What started as a dream has grown into a place filled with friendship, laughter, inclusion, achievement, and opportunity. Every day, we are reminded why this hub was created—to provide a safe, welcoming space where people can build confidence, develop skills, create lasting friendships, and achieve their goals.

Jie had a way of bringing people together with his checky grin, one lines, and Naming our hub in his honour ensures that his legacy continues to inspire everything we do. His memory lives on through every participant we support, every achievement celebrated, and every life touched within these walls.

As we reflect on the past year, our hearts are filled with gratitude.

🎉 Happy First Birthday to the Jie Michael Blight Hub! 🎉

Twelve months ago today, we picked up the keys to the new home of Ability Support Care Tasmania on Main Road, Penguin.

From moving in and officially opening our fabulous new home, we have shared so many memories, laughs, tears, and milestones. From dinner nights and special events to everyday moments, we have met so many wonderful new friends within our community.

A massive thank you to the extended Holland family for everything you have done for us over the past 12 months and for the support, friendship, and encouragement you continue to provide. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of our journey.

A special shout-out goes to the Penguin Community Op Shop, the Penguin Lions Club, and Shirley Good and Penguin in Pink for your unwavering support throughout the year.

To Julie, Phil and Kade, the family of our late Jie Michael Blight, for whom our hub is proudly named, thank you. Your support, encouragement, and connection to our journey mean so much to us.
