It's been 7 years, but I still pinch myself that I get to learn about ceremonial matcha from my Japanese Edosenke teacher, Eiko-sensei. π΅
It's not my culture, so I've always tried my best to pay respect correctly, well aware of my status as a foreigner looking in. πββοΈ
πΎ Knowing the history, from Japanese historical figures like Oda Nobunaga and Sen no Rikyu enjoying tea.
To the way of living mindfully and according to the seasons. πΈ (The Head of Edosenke School of Tea is in his 90's, drinks matcha daily and still performing regularly!)
The cultivation and modern day production of camellia sinensis, the tea plant πΏ(I had the pleasure of visiting a working Wazuka-cho tea farm, pre-pandemic.)
And of course, the health benefits and the variety of matcha uses! π
The Way of Tea is said to be deep and endless, and I look forward to many more years of study! π₯°
