Feeling incredibly proud this World Breastfeeding Week to lead the WA Country Health Service Telehealth Lactation Service and work alongside such an amazing group of clinicians. 💜

This year’s theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works,” is a reminder of the importance of investing in services that make a real difference for families.

Every day, our team has the privilege of supporting mothers, babies and families across country Western Australia by providing timely, equitable and evidence-based specialist breastfeeding support, no matter where they live.

Thank you to this wonderful team for your compassion, expertise and commitment. I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together and the difference we make for families across our vast state.

Happy International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Day 2026 💜

Today we recognise the incredible work of IBCLC’s around the world who support mothers, babies and families through their breastfeeding journeys.

For 25 years I have worked as a midwife, and for the past 14 years as an IBCLC, supporting mothers and babies through the joys and challenges of breastfeeding.

One of my greatest passions is improving access to breastfeeding and lactation support for families, especially for those living in rural and regional communities, where specialist care can be harder to access.

Through the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Telehealth Lactation Service, country mums can connect with experienced midwives and lactation consultants for support during those important early weeks after birth. Because every mum and baby deserve breastfeeding support — no matter where they live 💜

Today I’d also like to recognise and thank IBCLC’s everywhere who provide the gold standard in lactation care every day, you’re amazing 🤩🫶

So breast engorgement in the post partum causes so much worry and fear - we have never experienced our breasts in this way! So it’s very inprotant to understand what’s normal and how to manage any issues that do arise!

Please reach out to you nurses, midwives, LCs, doctors if concerned so you can get that reassurance!

Life keeps on with its twists and turns….

An unexpected but exciting work opportunity crossed my path and I’ve grabbed it with both hands, which means I’ll be leaving Best Start Lactation Consultancy in 2 weeks time 😔

Definitely lots of mixed emotions, and I’m so grateful for Eve giving me the opportunity to work as part of the awesome Best Start team and provide breastfeeding support to families in Perth over the last 4 months 💐

I’ll definitely cherish my last few weeks and we’ll make sure that there are follow up appointments available with Eve for any of my clients that may need it 🫶

Wishing you all a Happy New Year ✨

So proud to be part of the amazing Maternity and Newborn Services team at WACHS 💜

Repost from Baby Bumps WA at WA Country Health Service ✨

As the new year begins, our maternity teams across country WA extend warm wishes to every family for a safe, supported and hopeful year ahead. ✨

For some, the new year starts in hospital rooms, birth suites, or at home with a newborn. Wherever you are today, our teams continue to provide care, presence and support.

For others, this day carries quiet hope, reflection, or remembrance. If you are longing for a baby, navigating uncertainty, or holding loss alongside possibility, you are not alone.

Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you through moments of joy and moments of deep challenge, and for trusting us with your care at every stage of your journey.

Great post on breastfeeding on demand by Eve at Best Start Lactation Consultancy🤱💕

Repost with permission from Best Start Lactation Consultancy ✨

Breastfeeding on demand means trusting your baby.

It’s about responding to cues, not the clock and offering the breast whenever your baby shows they need comfort, connection, or nourishment.

Newborns feed often, and that’s normal. Frequent feeding helps regulate milk supply, supports growth and brain development, and reassures your baby that their needs will be met.

There is no such thing as “too often” at the breast in the early days. Feeding on demand supports both baby and mum. It helps build supply, protects breastfeeding, and strengthens that beautiful bond you’re creating together.

Remember, we can be your source of truth, your constant, your “personal google” to guide you through those early days, weeks and months as you transition to parenthood! 💛

Save for later or share with someone you know will benefit. 🥰🥰
