Sometimes what looks like bedtime resistance isn’t a sleep problem at all.

It’s an empty connection cup ☕️

After a day at daycare, school or time apart from their favourite people, many little ones come home craving connection and they need opportunities to reconnect.

Even if it’s been a big day, creating just 10-15 minutes away from bedtime of uninterrupted connection can make a huge difference. Read a book, build a tower, have a cuddle, chat in the bath or simply be present without distractions.

When little one’s feel connected, they often find it easier to move into separation at bedtime because their emotional needs have been met 🤎

“Sleep support is selfish.”

It’s a narrative so many exhausted parents have absorbed which leaves them feeling guilty for wanting more sleep for their little one or themselves 🤯🤯

Let me be clear, sleep is not a luxury for babies and toddlers. It’s a biological need that supports brain development, emotional regulation, learning, memory, growth, sensory processing, immune function and overall wellbeing.
And sleep deprivation doesn’t just affect them.

Chronic exhaustion impacts parents, affecting the brain and nervous system, emotional regulation, patience, responsiveness, stress tolerance and mental health.

Supporting sleep isn’t about choosing convenience over connection. In many cases, it’s about protecting connection, wellbeing and the capacity to show up responsively.

Wanting your child to be well rested doesn’t make you selfish.

If you’re struggling with sleep and want responsive, evidence based support, my DMs are always open 🫶

Did you know that weaning from breastfeeding can trigger a significant hormonal shift in your body?

As breastfeeding reduces or stops, levels of prolactin and oxytocin, the hormones responsible for milk production and those warm, connected feelings many mothers experience begin to decline. At the same time, estrogen and progesterone start fluctuating as your body transitions away from lactation and back towards its pre-pregnancy hormonal patterns.

For some mothers, this adjustment passes with little notice. For others, it can bring mood changes, increased anxiety, tearfulness, irritability, headaches, fatigue, disrupted sleep, or a feeling that they’re simply “not themselves.”

If you’ve recently weaned and found yourself feeling emotionally overwhelmed, struggling with sleep or experiencing unexpected changes in your wellbeing, you’re not imagining it. These hormonal changes are very real and they can have a significant impact during this transition.

If you’re navigating weaning and your little one’s sleep has become more challenging, I can help. Together we can create a gentle, responsive plan that supports your little one while also protecting your wellbeing during this transition.

In an industry that is largely unregulated, choosing who to trust with your little one’s sleep matters.

I’m proud to be both an Internationally Certified Infant & Toddler Sleep Consultant and a Neuroprotective Sleep Coach. I’ve completed extensive training and research in child sleep, development, behaviour and attachment. Combined with years of experience supporting hundreds of families, this allows me to provide personalised, evidence based sleep support that is both effective and responsive.

At Thrive the support blends neuroscience, biology, and responsive sleep support with evidence based science and methods; understanding the role of both biology and behaviour and supporting both.

There is no one size fits all approach here. Every recommendation is tailored to your little one, your parenting values and your family’s unique needs.

I am kind of obsessed with sleep 😬 and I am so committed to helping your whole family thrive. 🤍

Did you know your newborn’s senses can help them sleep?! And you probably already have access to everything you need ✨
Sunlight in the morning helps establish their circadian rhythm. Movement activates the vestibular system and signals calm as well as building sleep pressure. Your face and voice co-regulate their nervous system. Touch triggers oxytocin and signals safety.
None of this is complicated and all of it is backed by how the newborn brain actually works 🫶

Despite what social media has you believing there is sadly no magic sleep fix with food BUT there are absolutely a range of foods containing nutrients that help support sleep 😴
These are some of my top picks and here’s why:
🍌 Bananas: contain magnesium and potassium as well as Tryptophan (amino acid that supports melatonin).
🥣 Oats: contain melatonin and magnesium.
🍗 Chicken: along with turkey, is rich in tryptophan.
🍽️ Greek Yoghurt: contains calcium, tryptophan and other essential nutrients.
🥚 Eggs: contains protein, vitamin D and tryptophan.
🥝 Kiwi Fruit: a source of serotonin, antioxidants and vitamin c.

Supporting sleep should always be holistic 🔆

Supporting your baby’s sleep in a responsive & evidence based way is safe.
It does not damage attachment & it does not mean ignoring your baby.
It does means helping your little one get the sleep they biologically need to grow, regulate and thrive while you also get to feel like yourself again too 🤎
