Sitting back after my “run” today, I took a moment to reflect…
A few weeks ago, I couldn’t walk due to a calf injury,… the 4 weeks before that I had been so unwell with a virus I just couldn’t shake…
Couple weeks ago after having my bloods tested, found out that everything that’s needed to make energy in the body, I was extremely low on…
All I needed was for my boy several weeks ago to say- “hey mum, I want to do that with you” - and I jumped at the chance to bond- be active and do something new - I signed us up to the immediately so neither of us could change our mind.
Old me would have never done that- I would have said “haha, I don’t run” & let all the above become some sorta lame excuse as to why I couldn’t… “I can’t run”, “not enough prep”, “ what if my calf doesn’t hold out”, “ what if I can’t run the whole way”, “maybe I shouldn’t push myself- I’m pretty depleted RN”, and my boy was less than enthusiastic last night & this morning…
But no, I didn’t let the perfectionist in me run the show OR the fear of “failure” get in the way this time, this time I just showed up and took the messy action… zero prep, no plan, just a comment to myself and my boy that we were going to do something different and have an adventure….
And you know what -we both freakin LOVED it… !
Was so proud of him for his attitude ( after he had properly woken up😁) to have a go and run for as long as he could without stopping and I am equally proud of myself for doing what I said I would do… have a crack!
Sure, to most it’s just a 4km run, for some fun with my son- but to me it was SO much more than that…. It was me honouring my commitment to myself and my son, it was another step towards the future I’m want to build , another step towards the type of women I know im meant to be, another step forward towards MYSELF! ✨
The relationship with YOURSELF is the most important one you will EVER have & mine is getting stronger everyday!! 🫶🏼
