The connection between a human and a horse really is so magical, so powerful and there are no words to describe it.
Watching my girls confidence grow each session has been wonderful to witness, and takes me back to a beautiful childhood I was blessed enough to have.
My parents never had a lot of money when we were younger, but they saw how life changing horse riding was for me and they made it happen and for that, I will always be grateful. I was relentlessly bullied and horse riding was my escape and helped me find a voice I never knew I had.
Growing up, I saw the incredible impact horses can have on people. “My” horse was kept at the RDA in England so I grew up witnessing people from all walks of life with various disabilities and additional needs, and the connection and peace joy the horses bring to people that aren’t able to speak, walk, communicate was beyond wonderful. I truly believe this is why I am in my job today. Witnessing and leading sessions gave me a deeper understanding of people and gave me a voice to advocate and speak for people that aren’t always able to.
Today I was reminded that horses have a special way of bringing out the best in all of us. When we arrived, Hailey was feeling shy and you could see she’d lost a little bit of confidence as it had been a while, but 15 minutes in .. “Mum look at me, NO HANDS!”
I’m so grateful that Sharon was recommended to us. She has such a wonderful way with everyone and her horses are so beautifully cared for! ❤️
