You've done everything right. You're feeding regularly, you're trying to pump, you're doing all the things. But your output is low, and you're starting to wonder if the problem is you.

It's not you. It might be your pump.

That's exactly why I recommend the Spectra S1+ to so many of the mums I work with.

It's a hospital-grade, double electric breast pump — the same level of suction used in hospitals — but with an inbuilt rechargeable battery that goes wherever you go. Nursery, lounge room, back garden at midnight. No cords. No limits.

Here's what makes it different from a standard pump:

✔ Hospital-grade suction that actually stimulates milk production — not just collects it
✔ Closed system — no milk ever enters the motor, so it's hygienic and can be shared
✔ Adjustable stimulation and expression phases so you're in control
✔ Completely BPA-free
✔ Available to hire or purchase — so you can try before you commit

And here's the part I love most. When you buy a Spectra S1+ through me, you don't just get a pump. You get an IBCLC walking you through how to use it properly from day one — the settings, the fl**ge fit, the timing. All of it.

That makes a bigger difference than most people realise.

"Why has my milk supply dropped?" It's one of the most distressing things a breastfeeding mum can experience. And it happens more often than people talk about.

Here are 4 of the most common reasons — and what I usually suggest for each one.

1. Milk isn't being removed efficiently:
Your supply works on a supply-and-demand system. If milk isn't being fully removed at each feed or pump session, your body gets the signal to make less. This is often the first thing I look at in a consult.

2. You're using the wrong pump:
Not all pumps are built the same. A standard pump may not have the suction strength to properly stimulate production. A hospital-grade pump like the Spectra S1+ is specifically designed to mimic a baby's natural sucking rhythm, which makes a real difference for supply.

3. Timing and frequency have slipped:
Life gets busy. Feeds get stretched. But dropping below a certain number of sessions in 24 hours can signal your body to wind down production. Consistency is everything in the early weeks, especially.

4. You're exhausted and not looking after yourself:
Sleep deprivation, stress, and not eating enough — all of these affect the supply more than most people expect. This one is hard to fix, but it's worth naming.

If your supply has dipped, please don't just wait and hope. Let's look at what's actually happening and make a plan.

You shouldn't have to stop your whole day every time you need to pump. 💛

That's the idea behind the Mumilk OG — and honestly, once mums try it, most of them wonder how they managed without it.

It's a wearable, hands-free breast pump that sits right inside your nursing bra. No cords. No tubes trailing across the kitchen bench. No sitting in one spot staring at a wall.

It's perfect for:
✔ Mums chasing after older kids while pumping
✔ Mums who need to pump at work without disappearing for 30 minutes
✔ Anyone who just wants their hands back

The Mumilk OG is the entry-level model in the Mumilk range — affordable, discreet, and surprisingly powerful for its size.

One thing I always tell mums though: a wearable pump isn't the right fit for every stage of the journey. If you're in the early weeks and still establishing supply, a hospital-grade pump like the Spectra S1+ is usually where I'd start. Once supply is established, the Mumilk OG is a brilliant companion pump to give you that freedom.

Not sure which one suits you right now? That's exactly what I'm here for.

A lot of mums aren't sure what actually happens in a home visit — so let me walk you through it. 💛

When I arrive, the first thing I do is sit down with you. Do not rush straight into feeding positions or latch checks. Just sit, and listen. Because understanding what's been happening — and how you're feeling about it — shapes everything that comes next.

From there, we might work through:

✨ Latch and attachment — watching a full feed and making adjustments in real time
✨ Supply concerns — looking at what's driving the issue and building a practical plan
✨ Pump setup and settings — whether you're using a Spectra S1+ or a Mumilk OG wearable, making sure it's fitted correctly and working for your body
✨ Pain or damage — addressing what's causing it and how to heal
✨ Feeding anxiety — because this is real, and it deserves proper attention

By the end of the session, you'll have a clear, written plan tailored to you and your bub. Not generic advice. Your plan.

And every postnatal consult includes six weeks of complimentary phone support — because the questions don't stop when I walk out the door.

I'm currently taking bookings across Perth's northern suburbs and beyond.

Three recent wins that made my heart full. 💛

Mum #1 — Ellenbrook
She came to me at four weeks postpartum, in tears, convinced she wasn't making enough milk. Her baby was gaining weight but she didn't trust her body. We looked at her pump setup — she'd been using a basic single electric — swapped her onto the Spectra S1+ and adjusted her pumping schedule. Two weeks later she messaged to say her output had nearly doubled and she finally felt in control.

Mum #2 — Hillarys
Exclusively pumping twins. Exhausted doesn't come close to covering it. She needed to be able to pump while doing literally anything else — feeding one baby, settling the other, making breakfast. We set her up with the Mumilk OG as her daytime pump and suddenly she had her hands back. She called it life-changing. I tend to agree.

Mum #3 — Joondalup
Painful latch, seven weeks of pushing through. She'd been told everything looked fine. It didn't feel fine. At our home visit we identified a shallow latch and a slight tongue restriction that hadn't been picked up. Within 48 hours of making the adjustments she messaged to say feeding was pain-free for the first time.

These are the moments I do this work for.

If you're struggling, please reach out. You don't have to keep pushing through alone.

Something new has just landed at Breastfeeding Solutions — and I'm pretty excited about this one. 💛

Meet the Spectra Dual Compact. It's Spectra's newest portable double breast pump, and it comes with a feature I haven't seen on other pumps at this level — you can adjust each side independently. That means you're pumping at the right setting for your body, not a one-size-fits-all session.

It's also a true closed system, so there's a hygienic barrier between the pump and the milk — keeping things clean whether you're using it at home or on the go. The LED screen means late-night sessions don't require turning the lights on (trust me, this matters at 3am). And with a built-in rechargeable battery and a compact design, it genuinely goes wherever you do.
If you've been looking for a pump that fits around your life rather than the other way around, this one is worth a look.

The NEW Spectra Dual Compact Portable Double Breast Pump is packed with additional features! It has a unique function that allows you to adjust each side independently for a more productive and comfortable pumping session.

5 signs your baby is getting enough milk 🥛 This is one of the questions I get asked most often — and it makes complete sense. When you can't see exactly how much your baby is drinking, it can feel really hard to know if things are going well.

Here's what I look for:
1. Plenty of wet nappies
From around day 5, expect at least 6 heavy wet nappies in 24 hours.

2. Regular dirty nappies in the early weeks
Newborns tend to poo after most feeds in the first few weeks — this is a great sign milk is moving through.

3. Your baby seems settled after feeds
Not every time (some bubs are just unsettled!) but generally, a well-fed baby will come off the breast and seem relaxed.

4. Steady weight gain
After the initial drop in the first few days, your baby should start regaining weight. Your midwife or child health nurse will track this with you.

5. You can hear swallowing
A soft, rhythmic swallow sound during feeding is one of the clearest signs of effective milk transfer.

If you're worried about supply or your baby's weight, please chat to your IBCLC, midwife or GP — don't sit with the worry alone.

To every mum reading this on Mother's Day 💛 Whether you're breastfeeding, pumping, combination feeding, or just trying to get through the day — you are doing an incredible job.

Motherhood is messy and beautiful and exhausting and overwhelming, sometimes all before 7am. And the fact that you're still showing up, still trying, still caring so deeply — that matters more than you know.

If your breastfeeding journey has been harder than you expected, please know that doesn't make you less of a mother. It makes you human. And it means you might just need a little more support — which is exactly what I'm here for.

To the mums who are thriving, I'm cheering you on.
To the mums who are struggling, I see you.
To the mums who aren't sure how much longer they can keep going, you don't have to figure this out alone.

Happy Mother's Day. You deserve to be celebrated today — and supported every day. 🌸

A message I received from a mum in Joondalup last month stopped me in my tracks 💛

She'd been struggling with a painful latch for three weeks. She'd been told everything looked "fine" but it didn't feel fine — it felt like she was failing.

After our home visit, she messaged to say she finally understood what was happening, she had a plan, and for the first time since her baby was born, she felt like she could do this.

That's why I do this work.

You're not failing. Breastfeeding is genuinely hard sometimes, and it often just takes one session with the right support to shift everything.

If you're in the northern suburbs and struggling, please reach out. I have availability for home visits and I would love to help.
