Women are the most oppressed group of any race or creed or country, as John Lennon so rightly put it ‘Women are the Nxxgxx of the World’ . We are the lowest class of every low class. Why are we not rebelling? It is because of the success of patriarchy that we are not in constant rebellion. Women have been so traumatised we have internalised the repression, we have been told and believe we are not good enough , smart enough, pretty enough, that the difficulties we face are of our own making , that the abuse we endure should be expected because of how we look , or where we are or just that we are women . How many times I have to describe to a middle class women how she has been disabled by being ‘good’ or acceptable , told that if we are good little girls we will be looked after, we will be safe & protected (from other men) is part of this cruel fantasy told to women to keep them quite. And we have lost so much of our history our ways of being , we don’t know largely what it is to be women , what are our ways of doing everything? What is our culture, it is so lost and yet noone has ever described this , or searched for it or contemplated a royal commission or massive compensation for the astounding colonialism women have and continued to endure . There were matrilineal societies, how much of our land was stolen ? By men , we cannot know . The only structure for women to utilise currently is Punk - rebel at everything, scream out at injustice, support other women , identify the enemy as the structure that oppresses us , seek to burn the whole thing down , then we might see what truly is , for women .
