Prevention is often far simpler than dealing with the consequences of an undetected vascular condition.

Issues such as narrowed arteries, poor circulation and aneurysms can sometimes progress silently, only becoming obvious when they are more advanced. That’s why early testing matters.

If you’ve noticed leg pain when walking, swelling, cold feet, slow healing wounds, or you have a family history of stroke, aneurysm or vascular disease, it may be worth looking into.

At CVS, we offer vascular testing designed to identify concerns early and give you clarity on your vascular health.
We have many locations across WA and VIC to make accessing vascular testing convenient.

There’s a lot of cardiovascular health advice online, but not all of it is accurate. 🫀

That’s why we’re busting some of the most common myths that can stop people from getting checked, asking questions or taking symptoms seriously.

The truth is, heart and vascular issues don’t always look the way people expect. You don’t need to “fit the stereotype” to be at risk, and symptoms can often be subtle or dismissed.

Knowing the facts can help you take the right next step sooner.

At CVS, we offer a range of cardiac and vascular testing to help assess your heart health, circulation and risk factors, with clear guidance from an experienced team.

If something doesn’t feel right, or you have a family history of heart disease, it may be time for a conversation with your GP about further testing.

Heart Week is Australia’s national heart health awareness week, held each May to encourage more conversations about cardiovascular health and the steps we can take to protect it.

🫀Heart disease often develops quietly, which is why awareness, prevention and early action matter.

This week is a timely reminder to check in with yourself and your loved ones about heart health.

If you have symptoms, risk factors, or a family history of heart disease, speak with your GP about whether further assessment may be appropriate. Simple steps today can make a meaningful difference long term.

At CVS, we’re proud to support patients with advanced cardiac diagnostic testing when referred by their doctor. Visit our website to learn more about our tests including Echocardiograms, ECGS, Holter monitors, Stress Tests and more.

An echocardiogram is one of the most common cardiac tests we perform at CVS, using ultrasound technology to create live images of your heart.🫀

It can help assess:
• Heart pumping function
• Heart valves
• Chamber size
• Blood flow through the heart
• Structural abnormalities
• Signs of heart failure or other cardiac conditions

It’s non-invasive, painless, and provides valuable information your doctor can use to guide treatment or next steps.

If you’ve been referred for an echocardiogram, our experienced team is here to make the process smooth and reassuring. We offer this at multiple locations across WA and VIC.

“Do I need to be fit to do a cardiac stress test?”🏃🏽

This is one of the most common questions patients ask.

🫀A stress test is designed to assess how your heart responds to activity, not how athletic you are. The test is closely supervised by trained clinicians and adjusted to suit your individual level of fitness.

If you are unable to walk on a treadmill to the required levels, a Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram may be recommended instead. This test uses a medication that mimics the effect of exercise on the heart.

The medication, similar to adrenaline, is given through a small cannula in the back of your hand or arm. It is very short acting, and side effects are generally rare and mild.

During the test, your ECG and blood pressure are continuously monitored to ensure the procedure is performed safely.

If you’ve been referred for a stress test and have questions about preparing, our team can help guide you through what to expect.

Do you need a referral for testing at CVS?🫀

Yes. A referral from your GP or specialist is required before booking your cardiac or vascular imaging appointment. This helps ensure the most appropriate test is performed for your condition.

A referral is also required to ensure you receive a Medicare rebate (where applicable).

At CVS, we are committed to delivering high-quality, safe and non-invasive cardiac and vascular testing.

Our cardiology services are performed by experienced cardiac sonographers, working closely with specialist cardiologists. All echocardiograms are reported by cardiac imaging sub specialists to ensure accurate results.

Vascular imaging at CVS is conducted by highly trained vascular sonographers, working directly with vascular and endovascular surgeons to support optimal patient care.

ECGs and echocardiograms are two common cardiac tests, but they measure very different things.🫀

An ECG (electrocardiogram) records the electrical activity of the heart. It is often used to identify abnormal heart rhythms, conduction issues, signs of previous heart attack, or electrical changes that may indicate strain on the heart muscle. ECGs are commonly performed when patients experience symptoms such as chest discomfort, palpitations, dizziness, or fainting.

An echocardiogram (echo) uses ultrasound imaging to visualise the structure and movement of the heart. This test allows clinicians to assess how well the heart muscle is pumping, how the valves are functioning, and how blood is flowing through the chambers of the heart. Echocardiograms can help detect valve disease, structural abnormalities, heart muscle weakness, or other conditions affecting cardiac function.

Together, these tests provide valuable information about both the electrical activity and mechanical function of the heart, helping clinicians build a clearer picture of cardiovascular health and determine whether further investigation may be required.

At CVS, we provide comprehensive cardiac testing, including ECGs and echocardiograms, across multiple locations in WA and VIC.

For more information on our cardiac testing or to prepare for your appointment, visit our website or contact our team.

Signs you might have poor circulation…
Circulation plays a vital role in delivering oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.
When blood flow is reduced, symptoms may include cold feet or hands, leg pain when walking, numbness, swelling, or slow healing wounds. These signs can indicate that blood is not circulating as efficiently as it should.
At CVS, our vascular ultrasound imaging allows our specialists to assess blood flow within the arteries and veins, helping identify potential circulatory concerns.
If you suspect you have a circulation issue, the best place to start is a visit to your GP to discuss. If further investigation is required, request a referral to us, and contact our team to arrange your assessment.
