Down Syndrome WA - supporting a life of possibilities

People with Down syndrome have individual personalities, strengths, interests and skills. Support from those who share their lives and positive attitudes of the broader community help shape the kinds of lives they can enjoy. Down Syndrome WA is committed to enriching the lives of people with Down syndrome and supporting a life of possibilities

. Our Vision is that people with Down syndrome live a life of their choice and make their contribution to the community. Underlying this are the fundamental beliefs that each person with Down syndrome has the same rights as anyone else and has a contribution to make. Our Mission is to support people with Down syndrome to achieve their goals.

Our third Parents & Bub Morning Tea for the year was a wonderful success, with six families joining us at the DSWA office.

It was such a lovely morning filled with plenty of laughs, lots of conversation and the chance to get to know one another. We really enjoyed spending time together and seeing families connect and share their experiences.

We’re already looking forward to our next Parents & Bub Morning Tea, which will be held online. If you haven’t registered yet, make sure you do (https://www.trybooking.com/DOOZV) — we’d love to see you there!

We are so excited to be partnering with Kelpies for Kids

Kelpies for Kids advocates for West Australian bush families by raising awareness of their unique challenges, amplifying their voices, and ensuring they are supported, seen, and connected when medical treatment & services take them far from home.

Each year, they train working dogs, and auction them at the Perth Royal Show to raise funds for Telethon7 Perth

🌾 When communities pull together, big things happen.

We’re heading to Newdegate Machinery Field Days WA , and it’s thanks to some absolute legends who’ve backed us, lifted us, and helped us get there.

💛 Community & Business Support

A huge shout‑out to:

• Kojonup Agricultural Supplies
• FyfeLogistics
• Lake Grace Community Resource Centre Inc.
• Earnshaw Ag
• Midalia Steel
• Royal Agricultural Society of WA
• TR Homes | Country Home Builder | WA
• Gecko Contracting
• McIntosh & Son
• Anne Mallia

Your support gets us on the ground, in the dust, and out with the people who matter most — our regional families.

💛 Backing Telethon & Regional Kids

Across the Field Days we’ll be raising awareness for Telethon7 Perth and some incredible organisations making a real difference in the bush:

• Kiind
• Down Syndrome WA (DSWA)
• HeartKids
• KidsCancerSupportGroup
• Royal Flying Doctor Service WA

These groups walk alongside families through some of the toughest tracks — and we’re proud to help shine a light on their work.

📍 Come and see us near the office!

Bring the kids, say g’day, and be part of something that’s powered by community, kindness, and country spirit.

Farewell and Thank you Nicole!

After nearly four years with DSWA, we are saying farewell to Nicole Campher, who has been an important part of the Playgroup South team.
Over the years Nicole has helped create a warm, welcoming and inclusive space where the children and families could connect, play, learn and feel part of our community.
Thank you Nicole for everything you have given to DSWA and our community over the past four years.
We wish you all the very best for your next adventure. You will be missed. 🥰
