Colour Run update!
We have a photo! This was snapped by Hailey’s school before things became a little too much for her.

You can see in the photo that she wasn’t feeling very happy or comfortable but she was still trying so hard to join in and be part of it.

After this photo was taken she got covered in some more powder and that was her breaking point. She’d had enough and her Colour Run came to an end.

But she tried. She joined in. She gave it a go, even when it was hard — and we are so incredibly proud of her for that.

There’s still one week left to donate to Hailey’s fundraiser. If anyone would like to donate a little something for being so brave and giving the Colour Run her best shot we would be so grateful. Every donation, big or small, means so much to her.

Since Hailey’s accident in 2023 I’ve wanted to find a way to give back for all the support our family received during her hospital stay.

For three months Ronald McDonald House WA gave us accommodation close to Hailey, meals, support and helped keep our family together. Most importantly it meant we could be by Hailey’s side within minutes whenever complications happened overnight. That meant everything to us.

So I’ve finally bitten the bullet and signed up to walk the 21km Up All Night course in March 2027 in honour of our little miracle, Hailey.

I’ve created a team called Hailey’s Night if anyone wants to join me for the 21km, I’ll leave the link below.

Unfortunately we didn’t get any photos of Hailey during the colour run yesterday apart from these ones taken afterwards

We took her trike so she could be pushed around the oval as we thought walking the whole way might have been a bit too much for her.

She managed one lap but unfortunately became really overwhelmed. She didn’t like seeing her trike getting dirty and she really didn’t like seeing herself covered in colour either. She kept looking down at herself and became very distressed so she went back to class and sat the rest of it out with some chocolate to help cheer her up.

The whole experience really dysregulated her and she spent the rest of the afternoon and evening very clingy, upset and needing to be close to Mum. Emotional regulation can be really difficult for Hailey and yesterday’s colour run was just a bit too much for her.

Thankfully she’s woken up feeling much better today 💜

Hailey performed at her school assembly today and seeing her up there was one of those moments that makes your heart feel incredibly full. And of course that gorgeous little gap-tooth smile made it even sweeter. We’re so proud of her.

Tomorrow is another huge milestone. Hailey is taking part in her VERY FIRST COLOUR RUN!
This is so much more than just a school fundraiser for us. It’s another new experience, another big moment and something we’re incredibly excited to see her be part of.

Today was a very big first for Hailey!

She competed in her first ever sports carnival today and she completed the full 50 metres! 🥹

For most people 50 metres might not sound like a huge distance. But for Hailey and everyone who knows just how hard she has worked to get to where she is today those 50 metres meant everything.

Watching her make her way all the way to the finish line was one of those moments where you can't help but think about how far she has come. There was a time when we didn't know what Hailey's future would look like or what she would be physically capable of doing.

But today there she was. At her school sports carnival. Doing the whole 50 metres.

She tried so hard, did amazingly well and most importantly she was out there having a go and being part of it all.

We have a beautiful video of the whole thing that we'll keep for ourselves because it includes other students but this photo captures a pretty special moment.

So incredibly proud of you Hailey.

Another milestone we once could only have dreamed about. Keep showing everyone what you can do beautiful girl ❤️

Hailey received her very first merit award at school today for her wonderful commitment to learning, hard work and determination.

It was the cutest thing watching her walk up to collect her certificate, give herself a little “woohoo!” and say “Yay!”. She was so proud of herself and we were even prouder watching her.

Her big brother also received an award today which made the day extra special. Hailey cheered so loudly and enthusiastically for him. It was absolutely adorable seeing how excited she was for her brother too.

So proud of both of our little superstars today!

Hailey had her very first Book Week parade today! 🎉

This was her at home before we left for school and I’m so incredibly proud of her. She got up, joined in the parade and even spoke into the microphone to tell everyone she was a Minion! 💛

I do have a video but as it includes other children I won’t be sharing it for privacy reasons. Just know that she did it and she was amazing!
