National Diabetes Week is here. And if your first thought was 'cool, but I live with this every day' ... we get it. 💙

This week isn't only about celebrating those living with diabetes. It's about taking a moment to recognise how far you've come, your support crew and how this diagnosis can also bring positive things to your life. Because managing a chronic condition every single day, without applause, without a finish line, that deserves to be acknowledged.

This year's theme is Stronger Together, Living Out Loud, and honestly, that's just what we do here all year round. Every social catch up, every comment, every 'same, me too', that's this community, living out loud together. By expanding the collective to the ENTIRE diabetes community last year, we show that we really are stronger together every day.

This week we want to hear from you. What do you wish people knew? What's something diabetes has taught you? How do you make it work for you?

And if you need something to hold onto, World Diabetes Day is 14 November. That's four months away. What's one small thing you want to do for yourself before then?

We're looking for our people. 💙

The Perth Diabetes Care Collective is growing, and we're on the hunt for Peer Support Champions to join our community all over WA.

If you live with diabetes and you're the kind of person who naturally finds yourself saying 'same, me too' or 'have you tried...' or just sitting with someone when things feel hard, this role was made for you.

As a Peer Support Champion, you'll be a part of our team at events, be a friendly and familiar face in the community, and show up as someone who genuinely gets it. Because you do.

You will be renumerated for your time, training and support will be provided and lived experience is the main thing we're looking for.

Our May Perth Diabetes Care Collective meeting is coming up, and we’d love to see you there!
We’ll be meeting upstairs at The Raffles Hotel for a relaxed, social meeting where we share ideas, plan future events, and talk about how we can best support the diabetes community.
PDCC is a safe, welcoming space for everyone connected to diabetes, whether you live with diabetes, support someone who does, or simply want to get involved and make a difference. Come along to chat, listen, contribute, or just be part of the community.

We’re running for a reason and you’re invited!

We have created a team for this year’s HBF Run for a Reason on Sunday 24 May, and we’d love you to join us. Whether you’re keen for the 3km or 12km (or cheering from the sidelines), it’s all about moving together for something that matters.
This year, we’re raising funds for Diabetes Research WA (DRWA), supporting local, life‑changing research that helps improve care, outcomes, and quality of life for people living with diabetes here in WA.

While completing your registration for HBF Run for a Reason, you can join our team by searching “Perth Diabetes Care Collective”, or just come along and support in spirit. Friends, family, supporters, everyone’s welcome.
Let’s show up, have some fun, and run (or walk, roll or dance) for our community!

The Perth Diabetes Care Collective is heading to the South West!
Join us on Saturday 18 April at the Busselton Foreshore for a relaxed coffee catch‑up by the water. Grab a coffee (or sweet treat), bring a picnic rug or chair, and hang out with others who get what living with diabetes is really like.
If you’re based in the South West, or just down this way on holidays, stop by for a coffee and a chat. Come solo, bring your support crew, or invite a friend who also lives with diabetes.
All ages and all types welcome. These will be a monthly event throughout the South West so follow us to see where we will be in May!

What we see online is often just a few filtered moments, the good days, the tidy summaries, the wins. What we don’t always see are the heavy days, the second‑guessing, the quiet effort it takes to keep going.
